Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

I love receiving letters, cards and postcodes.

Often received; if written by someone on holiday; days after that person has returned home.

Use this space however you like as though you are writing a letter to someone with whom you relate to in real life.

You might want to say something to that person, or persons and not be given the opportunity.

Families can be so very judgemental and cause much hurt and pain.

This is a way of writing to tell someone how you truly feel; good or bad.

Just read along if this is not your style.

Carry on with your own preference of using the forums.

This is just an idea.

Sometimes we do not know that we might enjoy something different unless we try.

Writing letters can be very therapeutic and a special way of releasing pent up feelings without the person knowing.

Lastly, in writing a letter, you need not put their name or title.

You might like to address the letter as dear friend, or dear family member; dear doctor; dear psychiatrist; dear pet.

Think outside of the square and write about what you would really like to say.

Good luck

Sophia

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

I feel like we are all quite creative types here on this thread and maybe with that comes a pinch of sensitivity. We all need to just take a deep breath and breathe a bit.

@Flax I think I have had the same internal debate about when and how to use the 'support' button!

I try to think of it as "I support this person in their situation" rather than supporting the words they've written.

I just wanted to pop in and say that it can totally be confusing, and that if anyone is ever upset by something that happens on the forums and aren't sure how to interpret it, you're always welcome to get in touch via email to hash it out. Online/text-only communication can be tricky sometimes!

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Exactly @Jynx because you don't know the inflection that it was written in. I was seen to be on the attack when that was not my thing at all. Maybe because my messages were short or maybe seen to be abrupt so I stopped posting all together. I now stay on my own thread with a close friend whom I have found very supportive. I am currently licking wounds until I feel strong enough to participate again. It's no one's fault and I want to reassure the other party as I am sure they will get sensitive again reading this. Yes I do still love you and I do stay in touch with this thread which I love. Do feel free to tag me here.
With love to all 💜

@Jynxsaid: "Online/text-only communication can be tricky sometimes!"

Yes very true - Far more difficult than Verbal communication, & more easily misunderstood.

"I try to think of it as "I support this person in their situation" rather than supporting the words they've written" - Yes that's how I use the Support Button too.

I just want them to know that someone (me) has read what they wrote - & feels empathy for their situation, or what they have experessed.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Oh dear...

Sooty has inadvertantly started another Sooty story...

@Oaktree you really are a nice person. Like kind and sincere. TY for your post....I'll be around for awhile I think, but it will be sporadic.

Sooty doesn't do hugs and kisses much. So can't think how to thank you, except to say thx, and much appreciated.

Little Sooty stories will pop up from time to time. I quite like this third person writing - Sooty as opposed to me (flax).

I am in a quandry though...do I just post random Sooty things or stick to the thread and be nice? lol...I'll answer, I'll just be myself when it suits.

Sooty's little claws came out with the Kelpie a few days ago.

I have a Sooty paradigm (meaning pattern or model) when online here...try to end on something positive.

Sooty is out of ideas on positivity, but I quite like this mountain below because its called Wyddfa, in Wales. Pretty crap mountain as far as mountains go...but Excalibur is supposed to buried somewhere around it, or in the lake near it.

Its a nice story, and silly - an iron sword would long be rusted by now - Arthurian legends date back to the 7th-8th century...but I think it would be cool if it still survived; sort of made from a modern high tech metal, like titanium, a thousand years ago. Even better, Wyddfa is the sort of place the British SAS put recruits through on training.

Sooty's little brain - Excalibur, Wales, British SAS; must be a Sooty story somewhere in that.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Well @Flax

You are a mischievous puddy tat....

You land in a flurry with sequins and feathers......wearing red prada boots etc etc etc..

Sooty hangs in the background not quite sure to come out or not...

Then off you go again leaving us all wondering..

Back you come with Sooty edging further to the forefront...Yes...hoorah..

Far easier for a group of very different personalities all having mental health issues of some description...some possibly struggling with medications...health issues...trauma in life...caring burn out..

now don't you go leaping away in a huff again sooty...

Question:

Have you actually been reading what has been posted?

Or are you skim reading and bored?

There have been several of us making attempts to keep this thread moving along....Levity included...

Very hard to keep up when many having real life issues...

Various ideas have sprung to the page and dissipated due to real life drama...

Had the very same this week...

Spent ages drafting a story following on from @Appleblossom little girl in the castle playing a piano....another mention by another whom I am not sure if I can tag just yet; of a professor..

I wrote three pages on microsoft word...all explained in a few boxes prior....

cannot get the dratted thing to copy onto here...

Tonight found all of this activity after only a few being able to contribute...

Unable to log in as apparently I live overseas..

I think that someone in the IT department has been following the thread and is very confused which hemisphere I live in laugh..

So someone is reading along...🙃

Flax have tried to carefully welcome you and invite you back when ready...

This time around...

Sooty you are here so let's get this action happening...

fun...fantasy....feasting....mishchief....

who is doing the wardrobes....cooking....]

off I go again

No taking offence allowed everybody..

I am very sensitive myself and extremely vulnerable at the moment..

So @Adge @Shaz51 @Flax @Appleblossom @Oaktree @HenryX @Exoplanet

come on over and say hello leave a happy face and join in when you want..

if it does not make sense..

does it matter...

really?

That is exactly how I feel when I see that support button used by you as I have come to know how you support others..

Horrace was in my 3 page story that I cannot add...

Never mind

you shall appear somehow somewhere and of course if you would like to add your own touch all the better...

You have contributed a lot and we all want you here...

@Flax we are all nice...

write as Sooty because then we can tell you off and not get into trouble because mishievous animals do get told off some times...I know my puddytat does when he jumps up on my kitchen bed and steals food...

We have travelled to Scotland, Ireland, Orkney Islands. Austraylia I think appleblossom said...

so why not Wales...
