Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

I love receiving letters, cards and postcodes.

Often received; if written by someone on holiday; days after that person has returned home.

Use this space however you like as though you are writing a letter to someone with whom you relate to in real life.

You might want to say something to that person, or persons and not be given the opportunity.

Families can be so very judgemental and cause much hurt and pain.

This is a way of writing to tell someone how you truly feel; good or bad.

Just read along if this is not your style.

Carry on with your own preference of using the forums.

This is just an idea.

Sometimes we do not know that we might enjoy something different unless we try.

Writing letters can be very therapeutic and a special way of releasing pent up feelings without the person knowing.

Lastly, in writing a letter, you need not put their name or title.

You might like to address the letter as dear friend, or dear family member; dear doctor; dear psychiatrist; dear pet.

Think outside of the square and write about what you would really like to say.

Good luck

Sophia

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

How are you @Flax

Are you hiding from us in case we give you more stories to work on laugh...

So much for free falling ...

Are you still keen to join in...

You can say hello....bring some food and trust me everyone takes over...

Or hello on it's own will creat a connection..

This might come as a surprise but I am not a loud person...

I do not have an extroverted personality...

I believe once under some boring workshop programmed I was deemed as having an extroverted introverted personality....I was called an extroverted introvert...not very nice was it...

more labels..

So say hello if you would still like to join us...

Hopefully I have not frightened you away...

AS you have observed I do work very hard at trying to keep it going and then flop down .....

I am only now in the past few years starting to accept myself as having a creative side as I now can open my eyes and see it in many different areas...

So that is another thing that always threw me,,,,being creative is not just about being good at art or quilting or drawing or sewing or writing....

It is about allowing our mind to think up something from ourselves...

Oh dear I am talking too much..

Shall leave you in peace...

Do hope to hear from you soon...

Selkie 💛💚💙 yellow for sunshine; green for the beauty and calm that nature creates and blue for water a must in my world literally and virtually

Hi Everyone,

My usual method is to put a word processor page on the left side of the screen, into which I write my responses to the posts in the thread, that I have on the other half of the screen. I do believe that it may take me quite a while to comment on everything that has transpired during the last few days. It may be best for me, in any case, to simply acknowledge and continue on from the present.

While I have been really concerned about events, I think that I will now start fresh from here, because I am sure that my responses, so far, have expressed my thoughts and feelings.

On a lighter note, some of the more recent, positive, pleasant and playful comments have been a source of considerable good humour, for me. Included in those, are observations about the way that people have described and pictured their thoughts about how I must have felt, as I unexpectedly came across a virtual train-wreck, as I swung around a bend. Again some good humour has surfaced even in difficult circumstances.

With my Very Best Wishes

Hello @Oaktree

It is my sincere hope that you will not deactivate your account, Meg.

Obviously, it is your choice, whichever direction you wish to take, which, as a friend, I must respect. However, It is most certainly my wish that you retain your membership of the forum.

If you would accept my request, you could send an email, hopefully after choir, requesting your previous request not proceed, that would be very good. I acknowledge that it is your prerogative to take whichever direction that you wish.

I am following this short note, with a more 'expansive' one, Meg, that I also hope will be of interest to you.

With My Very Best Wishes

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Hello @Oaktree

Meg,

Your new avatar looks really nice. I like the butterfly motif.

How are you going? The last few days have been really quite busy for me. On Tuesday, I had a dental appointment, where I was asked to get a full dental x-ray, for which I had intended going to Geraldton on Wednesday. I think that there is another “cosmic connection” there. However, didn't feel up to the drive on Wednesday and decided to go, after singing at Residential Care and doing some shopping, in town, on Thursday. Fortunately, there are two radiology clinics in Gero'. At the first, to which I went, the machine was not working, so it was suggested I go to Geraldton Regional Hospital Radiology. All ok and completed in half an hour, including waiting time.

Purchased a new printer – cheapie, to fill in, while I service my good one to get it operational again. Also purchased some gardening tools, did some grocery shopping, then returned home. I arrived home quite late, but completed some more forum activity. From memory, forgot to take medication as soon as I arrived home. It encourages sleep as positive side effect to primary AD function.

As a result, I woke up fairly late Friday morning, and proceeded with the project that I am working on with/for you. Saturday was a conference meeting in Geraldton, that I have described in another post.

This morning, I attended a lovely joint community Christian Church Service, in the town in which I live. The people attending included members of all the faith communities in the town. Many former town residents came from Perth and some people who, while travelling, had heard of the service to be held, while visiting in a nearby town, also were there. They live in Albany. Some of the people had known each other as children, from sixty+ years ago. There were also quite a few younger people who attended, about which I was very pleased. The service was followed by a light lunch. The whole occasion was one in which, I felt, was really special for me, in which to have been able to participate.

So at the moment, while I am not feeling exhausted, I really feel just a "bit ragged" or "frayed at the edges".

With all the winter rain and a lot of sunshine, everything is overgrown, so I am going to have to get my gardening gear functional, including recent purchases, as well as the operator (me), in order to bring everything to an acceptable state. Consequently, a bit of physical work ahead of me.

You had said that you are reading the “Essentials of Abnormal Psychology”. If you would like to download a copy of the book in PDF format, you can use the following website. You will find a whole range of books that are likewise available through the site. It may also provide access to reference books that may be useful for your daughter's studies as well.

To download a book;

V

------- On the page offered by the “Search” function of “PDFdrive.com” to the left of Sign In -------

(and, that the websites (1.) and (2.) shown below, present for selection.

1. To open Preview Download page

  • right-mouse-click on the title, to open the download page, for that title, in a new TAB

    or

  • left-mouse-click on the title, to open the download page, for that title, in the same TAB

2. To download a PDF copy of the selected book title, Left-click Download in the

V Download (PDF) | V , box. (There is an "arrow" in a green blob on the left side of the word "Download" and a selection "down arrow" on the right, that offers different formats)

3. The down arrow, on the right side of the download box, offers format options:

  • eg. PDF , EPUB , MOBI .

  • For my purposes, I always use PDF, unless that option is not available.

Unfortunately the layout of the download process, did not transfer as nicely as I would have liked. However, I hope that I have made it clear enough to follow.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Good Morning @Oaktree

Nice to be still able to 'talk' with you, for which I am very pleased. I hope that you are well and feeling settled.

"The fraying at the edges" was more a matter of weariness yesterday, as a result of a slightly higher level of activity, than I have been accustomed to more recently. So it may, in a sense, be an internal message to me to be somewhat more active. With that purpose in mind, I am reducing the amount of pain medication that I am taking. This is an attempt to have a better feeling of my physical responses to what I do externally, as distinct from sitting at the computer.

Pain medication, I think, can blunt my awareness of both good and not so good stressors and their effects. Hopefully, by reducing the medication level, I will be better able to guage my responses to every-day type physical activities, in an effort to improve my overall capacity.

Thank you for expressing concern with regard to my situation, as expressed yesterday. I am ok, and, as mentioned above, hoping to improve my capacity.

How was the choir practice session last night? I do hope that the atmosphere was pleasant and that you felt at ease with the other members. And I hope that eveything else is going well for you.

With my Very Best Wishes for You, Meg

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Hey Gang

Having a boring afternoon after a full on weekend. So thought I'd add my 2 cents worth.

It is so nice to see everything sorted out, and the plot just nicely spinning along in its own jumbled little way. I truly love this thread for 3 reasons - you can have fun, we can share and help each other, and it does give a bit of relief from some of the heavier MH discussions elsewhere. Even better, we can sort out problems and share ideas without everyone imploding and getting narky.

I'm sort of pleased to be away from just Pooh and gang as well. I think it was getting a bit stale...'confined' is the word that comes to mind. Now we can play without boundries in the garden (or is it now 100 acre woodland?). I think it could be a lot of fun. Sooty is gonna run rampant with all his little friends.

I know this might stretch credibility, but Sooty has met the ancient greek King Midas - who knows all about gold. Sooty also met Ragnar Hairybreeks in Valhalla, the viking who stole that gold. And it gets more convoluted, Sooty and Dolgen had a drinking competition a few months back (as cats and dwarves will do), and the welsh dwarf king who buried the gold, let slip who really owns the gold...just as well Sooty is bilingual - greek, norse and welsh are really pushing it. 😭

Love the new avatar @Oaktree ! And that buried treasure has all sorts of possibilities. Sooty, the ex-boy scout (of course) has his little backpack full of all sorts of useful archeological tools to start investigating buried gold and is coming up with a plan to do a deal with garden dwarves who love gold. A plot for another day 😋

I have to agree that @HenryX is our sensible and practical one. Funnily enough I had always thought of him as a socrates-type. Just for info Henry, have you thought about CBD Oil for pain. My Mum has severe/chronic pain from degenerative arthritis and it has worked wonders for her. Just a thought my friend 🙂

Was having a think over the weekend about people coming up with new names. Why not just stick to your own. I think "Meggle" is a great by itself. Creates less confusion, but I have to admit I love being Sooty...because Flax is the straight trait-laced one. With Sooty I can let the inner child out.

I have a feeling though that @Sophia1 wouldn't mind creating an avatar alternative for this thread. As the polymath in the gang and with a superb vocabularly - so many places you can go with this Sophia - Skald (an irish story teller), maybe Artemis (goddess of day and night) or Aglaranna - the queen of the fairy woods. Just some ideas to get your creative juices flowing if your thinking of an alt. Hope this isn't out of line.

But I think @Sophia1 has hit the nail on the head - its about fun or light relief from real life problems.

I have to run away for a while. It takes me days to think of few paragraphs - you people get the big download. Now I have to figure out what happens to the gold. Counting on others to start embelishing 😁

Hope your all travelling well.

Stay safe and may the force be with you 🙏

Flax ✌
