Something’s not right

Night Time

Night Time

That scene in Back to the Future 2 where Marty senior is watching TV but he has like 10 different stations playing all at once--that is my brain right now.

Don't even know what I'm thinking any more, it's just a static mess. So many thoughts and memories playing all at once it's confusing and frustrating.

Keep waking up in the early hours of the night thinking and hoping it's almost time to get up. But it never is. Knowing I'll be whiling away the next few hours like this feels like torture. But then when morning comes it's a battle to get out of bed.

I don't like to use the term flashback, I'm not a label person. I always feel like if I use those terms it takes away from others who have more severe problems. I can read about what it is to have a flashback for someone with CPTSD and I can check all the boxes, and inside I guess I know, but I still feel guilt. Like I'm not entitled to those terms. I guess maybe because it was drilled into my head that I was at fault. Maybe that's why I find it hard to use those terms? Because it places blame/responsibility onto someone else? Never even mentioned CPTSD on here before for the above reasons. Only ever been able to refer to my condition as PTSD.

I think, yeah, I guess it was flashback kind of material last week. It was very intense. When the physical component of it strikes it makes it so much harder to deal with. I still have this lingering nausea from it. If I even start to think about it my head starts pounding. Intensity of it has eased up greatly now though. Enough that I can start distancing myself from it all. I had absolutely no control over my thoughts or memories when that kicked in. Just kept ticking over, playing through, again and again. But it's confusing. I consciously have been aware of that instance where my mother was belting my brother. It's not a new memory. But after talking to my brother about all that other stuff, when that memory came up for me this time it came with a boat load of intense feelings. Like in my head I was there again. And I felt all the terror, the desperation, the overwhelming sadness, like I was there. Like I was still sitting on my bed and crying my little eyes out. It's up there with one of my most painful memories, but it's not at the top of the list. But I don't think I've ever experienced a flash back quite this intense before. That's also confusing. You'd think the severity of symptoms would directly relate to the severity of the traumatic memory. Perhaps I haven't been able to process the other events as completely as this one. So maybe it's a good thing? Good isn't the right word. Progress? I don't know. Gritting my teeth as I write this. Poor teeth. Woke up because I do this crazy thing with my jaw sometimes and it knocks my teeth together pretty hard. Two chipped teeth and another with a fracture because of it. Still won't go back to the dentist though.

Well, that was a long ramble. I feel a little lighter after prattling on though. Maybe that's what I need to do to get through the nights right now. Rather than tossing and turning for hours, maybe I'll just pour it out here. Maybe will start a new thread for it though. Maybe should just copy and paste this into a new thread now. OK.

Re: Night Time

I just can't shake it this time. I feel bad coming on here and babbling like a crazy person. I just don't feel good, all the time, it gets tiring. Exhausting. I don't know how to make it better or easier. It's just so hard all the time. My mind is just this weak piece of shit. I can't get it in gear. It's just the same shit everyday, struggling, drowning, torturing. I don't know if anything will make it better. It doesn't feel like anything works. And I'm afraid I've hit a wall with therapy. I feel like it doesn't help anymore, not the way it used to. It hasn't helped for a while now. Feels like there's nothing more he can do to help me. I didn't really imagine that would ever be a possibility.

Re: Night Time

Of course there's more...maybe you've hit a wall with him? I know you spoke of changing meds and I am aware of the grief that goes with that but is it time hun? Also aware that he called and you wernt in the right space to answer. Perhaps it's a dig deep scenario, a fork in the road. D day. Time to make a decision. You can't expect change to happen if you don't make a change?

I'm walking with you @saltandpepper, holding your hand. You've got this 💙

Re: Night Time

At what point are people beyond repair? Is the concept one day that I'll "heal" even real? Or was it unrealistic, misguided? I don't feel hopeful and I haven't done for a long time. What if I'm too broken and damaged to be anything more than this? What if this is my life? I can take all the meds I'm prescribed and talk til I'm blue in the face, but what if that's not enough? What if I'm not capable of living a healthy or normal life? What if this is all some people get?

Nup.

Hand up in your face lol.

Don't believe it.

Honestly if I thought that I would have not spent the last few years fighting and being my boys advocate...

There's more @saltandpepper please hold hope...

Hold hope for you, for me, for my boy, for all of us fighting an invisible battle.

Re: Night Time

@Anastasia I have been wondering that myself, perhaps he isn't able to help me anymore. But I don't know. He's been helpful for a long time, so I don't know if it's my depression clouding it all. I can't tell anymore.

Honestly, I'm terrified of going off my meds and having to find something else. It's a long process and if I don't feel strong enough now I'm not confident I'd be able to endure. My support network is very small. I'm alone with things a lot. It doesn't feel safe. But neither does doing nothing. Maybe I at least need to make an appointment hey? Probably should do that.

I treasure you @Anastasia and find so much comfort in talking to you. And I hate myself for it. I imagine you'd be the kind of person who'd fight fire to save someone you care about. And I know that if you were here in person I'd push you as far away as I could. People like me just drag people like you down. I'm no good for you. And I know that. And yet I can't walk away. I always feel terrible when I'm on here and you see me struggling. It's why I don't tag you in any new threads, cause I don't want you to feel sad or worried for me. You're special, you deserve to be free from this kind of shit. I feel tremendously lucky that you are here, but also endlessly guilty. I love you, I'm sorry if I ever cause you any pain 💙💙💙

Re: Night Time

I'd push back @saltandpepper 😜

Yep you got it. Fight till my last breath for those I care about, you're one of them. Stuck with me now. Don't feel guilty.

So yes, start by making an appointment. Then make a list ready for your appointment.

Then assess after the appointment if a change is needed. Its a process. You can possibly still teach his office it's 448pm?

Re: Night Time

Ugly anxiety is keeping me from making or taking any phone calls at the moment @Anastasia Id have to see my GP anyway, she's the one that'll get me into see a psychiatrist to do an assessment. That brings its own set of anxiety along with it too. I went rifling through the house the other night in search of my old anxiety medication, couldn't find them. Think I tossed them. Fu*king anxiety is getting worse again though
