Hi @dogs2,

Hope you're doing okay this morning. I certainly don't think you're alone in what you're going through. I think many people question whether life is "worth it" sometimes. If you are feeling unsafe and need someone to talk to right now, remember you can always call Lifeline (13 11 14) or Suicide Call Back Service for support (1300 659 467).

All the best,
supernova.

Re: is it all worth it

Hi @dogs2

That was the very question I asked myself and my counsellor over and over again at the beginning of my therapy. My counsellor told me at the time, he didn't know of anyone who had gone through the therapy and wasn't happy not to have completed their plan. I continued my work with him - not for me - I didn't see the point, but for him - he was putting so much effort into working with me - I didn't want to disappoint him. And yes it was worth it; it was worth all the hard work.

I have called Lifeline on occasion; that too was worth it. The supporters were wonderful.

HI There,

Can you write every thing out for now untill you see or speak to someone?

Is there anything that you have done before that helps?

Re: is it all worth it

@dogs2. I understand what you mean. I had to stop seeing a therapist years ago because she was just too nice. I didn't need a friend, I needed help. So when I rang my next therapist, I explained about my previous therapist and said I needed someone to 'kick my arse' & make me do my homework. She ended up a great fit.
So when phoning around, explain exactly what you need.
My current psychologist - after my recent crash is very perceptive to my lies. Will question me when he thinks I'm not being 100% honest. He praises me when I'm doing well and working on my issues. He brings up an issue I don't see any relevance to, & he's bloody always right. I credit him with my successes.
I hope you can find that right fit for you. All the best

@utopia,
I had a good laugh when I read that your current psychologist is very perceptive to your 'lies'. I prefer to think of these as giving an answer without answering anything. My psychologist is a very patient lad who hears me out with nods of the head and uh huhs until I run out of 'answer'. He will then congratulate me on my imagination and asks "Now what's the real story"?.
I've always managed to pull the wool over their eyes but not with this one. He calls me out every time and then we can get down to the nitty-gritty. That's the reason I'm sticking with him. There are times when I'm too clever for my own good but not clever enough!

Re: is it all worth it

@Kurra. Your post too made me laugh.
Yes I've met my match with my psychologist. I'm sure I challenge the hell out of him. I'm stubborn, intellectual and don't like to admit to my failures. He is the same. But he is also very supportive. Is always frustratingly right and has my best interests at heart.
But I've got to push him sometimes. I have to have a little fun too.

Hey @utopia
Are you sure you're not describing me?

Re: is it all worth it

@Kurra. Just imagine our psychologists on another site talking to each other about their stubborn, intelligent, cheeky clients. Yes it's us. Lol
