Something’s not right

feeling very burnt out.

feeling very burnt out.

Hi sorry I really need to rant a bit. I have been crying all day and i am so tired i havent been sleeping lately and i have so much uni work to do i am beside myself i am really trying to get everything done i am but i have missed so much being in and out of hospital and one of my lecturers isnt being very understanding and i dont know what to do. and my case manager wants me to have another assessment to see about duel diagnosis and all this stuff which is frustrating me because i am so sick of having people throw different diagnoses at me when all i want is to be understood and my friend with BPD is not doing well and keeps ending up in hospital and i am worried because the drs keep not taking them seriously and i am worried they will actually end up very hurt and i am trying to be as supportive as i can but i must admit it is draining on me and i am still struggling with a lot myself and keep seeing shadow people and hearing stuff and i just dont feel right my brain feels like jelly and i am just really struggling with everything and idk what to do anymore.

sorry this is so long and thanks if you read to the end i hope you are having a better day than mine.

Re: feeling very burnt out.

Hi @Eden1919 ,

Im glad you feel a bit better.

With uni, I'm completing 2 units. I find I invest all my energy into one unit until I'm well and truely ahead, then I switch over to the other unit. I continue to switch between the two this way, instead of studying both at the same time. I've tried that before where in one day, I study both or work on two assignments - I feel I don't get anywhere that way.

Hence, I plan ahead and set clear boundaries about when, where and how long I'm going to study for each unit/course. E.g. on Wed, I'll be studying XYZ for X number of hours; or this weekend, I'm going to complete an assignment for X course.

I hope I haven't confused you.

Hey @Eden1919 , 1 at a time mate, that's all is required. You won't enjoy a steak-eating it all in one bite. Take it slow and enjoy the process mate.

So much in life, we rush to do things just to get to something new and rush to get that done. The more you slow down, take it all in, the more you will get out of life.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

@BPDSurvivor @AussieRecharger thanks I am trying to take things slowly well as slow as I can but it is hard and I am also trying to set study times but I struggle with routines and keeping them. I have also had a very stressful last 2 days and which hasnt helped at all. I still have so much work to do but i am trying my best and I guess that is all i can do right now.

Sounds great @Eden1919

If you need as we are here...

Don't try to measure yourself mate, you got this, it might just take you longer to achieve success than you originally wanted.

@Eden1919 , I can definitely relate.

How many subjects are you doing? Also, do you have any supports in place to help you through uni?

Re: feeling very burnt out.

@BPDSurvivor I was doing 3 but now I am only doing 2 I have some small supports for example a learning assistance plan that allows me to get extensions and extra time and such but that is about it really. it really is so hard to get uni work done.

Hi @Eden1919 ,

3 is a lot. I'm glad you've dropped to two. And are you studying with trimesters or semesters? Semesters are much easier than trimesters,

When I was really unwell, I did something so stupid once. I did 4 units in one trimester! I think I needed special permission from the Dean. I'll never do that again!

I acknowledge it's challenging, but for me, it made me get out of bed....do you find this too?

Re: feeling very burnt out.

@BPDSurvivor I am studying semesters and yeah idk it doesn’t help me get out of bed as such kind of the opposite actually but studying and getting a degree does give me some overall sense of purpose.

I finished 2 of my tasks now I still have a lot to do and the next few are going to be really really hard. I am still feeling quite stressed and off but I am trying to just get through the next few weeks.
