Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Hello @Anastasia @bipolarbunny @Mazarita @Oaktree @Shaz51

Times of Forum Activity and Corresponding With Others

It's possible that I throw a spanner into the works by not normally logging on and off. Consequently, it may appear that I am 'present' when, at times, I may not be. If this causes problems for others, I am happy to change and logon and off.

“

When I come back to the computer, I generally look at the “New Notifications” first, either by left-clicking “NEW” near the top right of the forum page, or right-clicking on the browser back-button and selecting “Notification feed” from the drop-down menu. In this way, I can access all posts in which I have been interested and, or tagged.

“

After I have viewed and responded to the members, on the updated post list, as appropriate, I can then do an amble around any other threads in which I may be interested. And then if it's 9.00pm WA time, 11.00pm Eastern States time, and there is little activity on the forum threads, I look at new posts, and posts with few responses, and see if I can respond to any of those.

“

Because of the difference in time zones, I am not always able to be around when the activity on the forums is most lively. What I often do, if I wish to correspond directly with someone, is to try to give an indication of a time when I am likely to be at my computer.

Concern about Forum Functions and Features

I have likewise been concerned about the ease, or otherwise, of access to forum functions and resources and the difficulties and lack of intuitiveness in understanding the sites features.

"

A few comments, on recent discussions, about frustrations and acquiring knowledge of forum functions and resources, and correspondence with each other, indicate some of the issues that people are having.

“

I have written an essay, of about 1000 words, on access to the functions of the forum, difficulties in using the forum and “barriers to entry”, on the following thread and date:

Living with Ourselveson 19 Jun 2021 11:14 PM

Before and after that essay, there are qualifying posts. I express my thanks and appreciation to @Sophia1 for her perusal and comments on the essay and posts.

“

I have re-written the content of the above posts, first depersonalising the content, and posted it on the “Feedback” thread. The response that I received was positive, and I appreciate the consideration given to my comments.

“

I am keen, as may be evident, to improve the functionality and ease of access to forum features, particularly for new members, but also for more established members. As such, I do believe that conversation about those functions and features will lead to improvements in accessibility for both new and established forum members, and the reduction and hopefully removal of “barriers to entry”, real or perceived, to site resources.

“

A forum thread that could be reactivated and be useful for identifying difficulties and potential improvements in the mean time is:

in which I will post a copy of this note.

"

Above are a few thoughts for consideration in terms of a number of recent comments.

With Best Wishes

HenryX

Edit: I have edited this post with added information and changes of paragraph locations for improved clarity

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Thank you for your kind words @HenryX I really appreciate it X

You are right in what you say about therapy stretching the psychological muscle, I found it too difficult to open up and to be honest I didn't know how to either. So glad you have found someone you feel that you can confide in. Two pairs of hands and minds will certainly get the job done quicker, so pleased for you. :hammer_and_wrench:🤗

I think I'm going to have the weekend off the forums. I feel a bit of depression coming on, I think running around after my mum and this NDIS stuff has just made my mood plummet. I have to try and get this letter finished, so I think that and maybe a bit of self care might be all I can muster over the next few days.

I'll catch up with you all next week. Till then take care xx

@bipolarbunny

Hello BB,

Hope the weekend will be restful and give you time and space for recovery.

Needless to say, you know that lots of soft, soothing, gentle vibes will be specially flowing your way, from forum members, during that time.

With Best Wishes

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

I totally agree with the confusion on this site. When you are mentally not well and are presented with such an array of coloured boxes different threads. The tagging etc etc and the feeling that you can't enter certain threads. This is a wonderful, life saving site but really needs a good make over. @HenryX and everyone else XX
