we live in such a world governed my medical specialists

psychiatrist won't prescribe any other meds than psychiatric meds

GP takes advise from all specialists -cardiologist , psychiatrist etc.

Pharmacist sorting them all out safely

good thing medicare has a yearly provision for a pharmacist review of current medication list.

Yes much self care, and astute awareness of own medical history and medical conditons is needed to ensure careful prescribing is carried out by medics

if doc is flippant or too confident , easy to be inadvertly harmed and suffer consequences

Sorry to hear that. Sadly not surprised. Polypharmacy is not a solution, and overused. My ex bought a dictionary of pharmacy when he was trying to come off old antipsychotic. Knew enuff to know complexity of interactions of a great deal of meds, is too high to seriously test and control ...and be sure they are safe.

Sounds like buttcovering by pdoc. He/They should become aware of ALL the consequences of their professional practise.

Thanks @rivergal & @Appleblossom I completely agree. Much butt covering from pdoc. I feel like ringing him up and telling him to grow a set. I am really disappointed in him. My gp was genuinely trying to find the right med, but it appears all cause interactions according to pharmacist which makes me think staying on my current regime is a safer idea. it means my mania will annoy me more often, but at least I know where I stand with it. I've honestly made more progress with the help of my tdoc than with anyone or anything else.
Oh well just another day in the life of living with MI.
