Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

@Dimity Thanks my friend and yes couldn't agree more about IBS being debilitating. It is such a hard mix with anxiety cause they both feed off each other (pardon the pun) and make each other much worse.
I've found cutting out grains, dairy and red meat a big help. Processed foods too which aren't good for my mental health anyway. Sugar too, cause blood sugar levels soaring and plummeting sends me round the twist. I thought I may have had Chrons years ago, went to my then GP & a surgeon who thought he'd found a lump in my bowel, then after going through a whole big cancer scare it turned out it was just an irregularity in my cervix. Then the GP turned around and said "it's just IBS". Yeah it's JUST IBS like it's nothing. Ugh makes me so angry when medicos write stuff off as though it's no big deal. He gave me no help whatsoever. I ended up researching stuff myself. Did an elimination diet and worked from there.
Every now and then I'll be going along fine and then I'll get lazy in my eating habits and pay the price. I need to be stricter, cause I know eating healthier is better for my headspace too.
Geez life would be so much easier if we were all perfect all the time eh? *sigh* lol

I have had some success with my weight loss/ health eating/ exercise plan over the last few months overall.

I fell into a hole with the season change and haven't got back to my previous behaviours or activities as yet.

But this week with more time to myself i have gone for a walk each day and today a small run even though i got caught in the rain. (2 months since my last run).

This physical activity even flowed to making a healthy salad and soup.

Other things I am struggling with...

but to continue with sleep hygiene and a daily walk tomorrow

trying to find a balance and continue with these habits.

I like the power phrase , just show up @bipolarbunny to prevent over thinking and talking my self out of it.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Why can't we just have a switch that we can press and it will let us sleep!

got fed up at staring at a dark ceiling after a couple of hours, crept out of the bedroom yet again(only for my hubby to tell me in the morning he heard me!) It is now just after 3.15 am had cereal, tea can't do any work as we have two of our grandkids staying the night.

It's just go go go 😠

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

@Former-Member I hope you have a better night tonight. I need one switch to go to sleep and a delay setting to wake me up again LOL.

@Former-Member @Dimity

I hear you both on the switches! Would be lovely to be able to turn on sleep when we need it. As for my irritability, I'd like it to be surgically removed permanently. 🙈

@rivergal Yes, Just Show Up has served me well. I procrastinate a lot and become frozen and can't move, so keeping that simple thought in my head has really helped. xx

This week I'm doing well with walking daily in parklands nearby to home and starting to just show up for my study but easily distracted.

I think just showing up and getting out there no matter if is a short walk or run and taking the umbrella.

Also considering just showing up to a sun salutation or 20 sit to stand chair exercises if it is raining too heavily.

trying to keep a regular sleep wake cycle but it sleep eludes some nights Just showing up to bedtime at 930pm...

I think im procrastinating about study again LOL

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

@rivergal OMG I was the world's worst procrastinator at Uni! I think the only reason I passed was cause I was manic and when I'm like that my mind is like a sponge.
Good for you getting out there walking and running again. Daily exercise has been a big help for me. I rode my bike for 20Ks this morning felt awesome. It's definitely the little things that bring joy in the day that keep me ticking I think. xx
