Victoria's 5-day Lockdown - How are we all??

Victoria's 5-day Lockdown - How are we all??

Hey Forum Community & Forumites,

Having just heard about the latest news on the Melbourne 5-day lockdown, our hearts are going out to the community members in Vic ❤️

With all the lockdowns last year, we know this is hard news to hear....

Just wanted to check in on how everyone is doing & encourage you all to stay in touch here over those 5 days, especially if you're struggling.

Don't forget, our help centre is available through to 10pm tonight, too.

How is everyone doing? Does anyone have any thoughts on how they'll be looking after themselves through the coming 5 days?

Take care, everybody!!

Thinking of everyone being affected by this! It can be painful when, right as life starts to look more normal and hopeful again, restrictions come back into effect.

I hope that this short lockdown will prevent the need for something more prolonged, but I also understand that it's not a pleasant thing to have to go through regardless.

Hi @Former-Member Thanks very much for starting this very caring post! It is much appreciated☺️💐

So far for me, the sudden news at 1:30 wasn't such a surprise as there was something going about on Facebook late last night about a potential lockdown. It was more just me trying to organise things for finishing up cleaning the rental I'm leaving and getting a last final removalist. I've also had to deal with uni stuff with extensions for assessments which luckily, they've been fine with. I'm just annoyed that it was a hotel quarantine thing that has led to this and not community transmission. I find this to be political in some ways.

Talk later.

My 85 year old mum lives alone in her Melbourne flat. She was planning to come to visit me here in Queensland on Feb 24, but we changed it to July just a few days ago, concerned about possible border closures. My way of helping her is mainly to ring more than our usual once a week. She has good support from her wider family and local council where she lives.

I lived in Melbourne most of my life. One thing is that Melbournians are experienced at dealing with these limitations of movement for a way longer time last year. May anyone here at the forum affected by what's happening be peaceful through the temporary changes.

I live in Melbourne and I'm pretty fed up and I think we are all entitled to be - we mostly do the right thing and it's enough really - this time it's because someone used a nebulizer and the fine droplets spread far and fast

We can only go on and do our best and we will and we are tired

Me too @BlueBay - me too

😠

I don't know exactly how you feel of course but I am feeling pretty annoyed and it's okay to feel however we feel - it's just uncomfortable

No tourists this weekend - that's a small silver lining - a very small one I am sure

Hi again @BlueBay

Those tourists - what a pest - I hear you

But can they crowd out your beach? If too many do they will possibly close the beaches - I hope they do have to stay in their holiday houses - it is selfish and thoughtless behaviour -

It not a problem for me personally but I do live in a resort suburb on the Bay - I did live near the river some years back and in summer especially at the weekend the beach, pier, shops and streets were chock-a-block full of noisy people and I was glad to move to where I am now - I have an idea of how pestiferious tourists can be - and who wants them bringing a bug or three with them atm

You have so much on your mind right now - I am concerned - it has to be very testing for you -

All the best - thinking about you

Hey @LostAngel, sounds like you're getting hit pretty hard with those anxious thoughts, that's so rough. Do try to remember that our anxiety will often tell us that things are way worse than they really are. Here to support you along the way
