Something’s not right

It's all just a story but what is left for me

It's all just a story but what is left for me

Divorce - Graves Disease - Homeless - Double Brain surgery - Occipital Neuralgia - Tourettes - Emergency Gall Bladder surgery - Anxiety - Depression --- these are the things i endured and lived for 5 years.

In amongst graves disease i thyroid stormed and had a panic attack in a shop - i collapsed twice and was ambulanced out.

I did not enter a shop for 5 years. I thought it was because i had so much medical going on but now its all just a past story and i'm finished and yet i can't leave the house by myself. I have an ndis worker who i call SAFE and i can go to a shop with her.

So this week i am off to my doctor to say 'is this agoraphobia'

I am a hermit who learnt to function at home. Everything i need is purchased online and delivered to my door. Every day i try to find something to be grateful for.

I get the “being grateful” approach. I’ve downloaded a number of apps to get some positivity happening in my life, to retrain my brain and expose it to positive things automatically. I track my mood most nights on the Calm app, it takes two minutes. I have two different apps that send out random affirmations on my phone at scheduled times through the day so my brain at least reads something positive (and at times quite powerful). So as shitty as I feel, sometimes a smile does come to my face when “I am loved” or something similarly cheesy pops up. Some of them make me squirm. But I am getting used to them and am just starting to accept that these things might be true. Some external positivity to counteract the internal negativity I so easily spew

Thankyou for your reply and understanding.

As negative as things can be i always try to find gratitude.

Yesterday was the washing machine and it makes me self sufficient in my home.

Every day its something small but it seems so big. lol

I don't know what is left for me with all my health and mental health issues but i look for positives.

@JustAPerson2 @Buster1976 Welcome to the forums.

I look at nature pic and animals to get some positive feelings in my day.

We have a few threads of gratitude you might like to look at.

Something that made me smile today or helped me to breathe a little easier for a bit.

what's 1 thing your grateful for?

there are a few others I can’t remember at the moment.

You are welcome to join in anywhere.

A forum tip. The @brings a dropdown, and is how we tag others.

I hope to see you around.

Hi @JustAPerson2,

I hope this doesn't sound weird, but what a great experience you have. That does sound wierd actually 😂.

What i mean is, you have gone through sooo much, yet your last line brings light to your situation, 'everyday I try to find something to be grateful for'.

After going through so much struggle, it gets hard to imagine a future of anything different. Just know that the future is long and anything can happen. We don't need to understand what happens next, that's where worry creeps in, we just need to be grateful. So you have it all under control!

Just take it 1 day at a time. Try to push your limits where you can to grow, and be grateful for your progress. That's all you can do.

I like to tell myself there are no set backs, just lessons that feel like set backs. As debilitated as we may get at times, it's our mindset that is most crucial to keep us going. You never know what your experience might be usefull for in the future. So many people need help from people like us with lived experience, so I see my experience as a blessing.
