@LostAngel
I have not much to say about your post, only that I smiled reading it because you are living. Aches, pains, emotions, feelings, thoughts, whirlwinds and hopefully now you are in noddy land. Im not celebrating Christmas, but I wish you a good one.

Good morning and Merry Christmas @LostAngel! I really loved reading your post on the fun and excitement of Christmas Eve. It sounds like fun gets lots of work at the same time. I don't have kids and my family is just my sister as my mother died over 18 years ago and I don't associate with my father due to his alcoholism issues so it's pretty small compared to yours.
I used to love the excitement of Christmas Eve, watching Carols By Candlelight on TV and as a child, being made to go to bed after Santa had appeared on the show. I remember my parents having the fun of putting together 2 Barbie buses on Christmas Eve (1 each for my twin and I) when we were about 5 and them telling us the story about it as we were older with plenty of swearing going into each bus. My father never was patient at the best of times and when he got anxious, it brought on his depression so it wasn't a good mix. I think he and Mum were glad when we graduated to Cabbage Patch dolls in the mid 80s as they didn't have tiny accessories to get ready for like the wonderful and exciting Barbie did!
Mum ruined the whole Santa thing when we were 8 so Christmas Eve wasn't as fun anymore despite us having to play the routine for friends and neighbours kids for many years to come.
I do remember my Mum doing the Christmas cooking of the pavlova and the dramas of the many pavs that were binned when they didn't turn out properly out of the oven on Christmas Day. However, I also remember that she made the best ever Apple Pie from scratch that was always requested on special events like Christmas Day and Easter and birthdays. Unfortunately for me, she died without me getting that special recipe so I have to make do with shop made pies- I do like the Coles one from the bakery section- but Mums was still the best in my opinion. Add to the dramas of my grandmother doing cooking of the roast pork - crackling essential for my Mum and plenty of it please!- as well as my grandmother being required to cook custard at our place for Christmas lunch as a special request of my sister since Mum never could cook that dish- and life when I was growing up around Christmas was full of cooking dramas!
I really hope you find time to just chill out and relax @LostAngel sometime today because you don't want to collapse due to exhaustion. Please take time to take care of your wonderful and special self as you need this. I know today is going to be stressful -it definitely sounds like it according to what you've written here- and I know you say you can handle it which I believe you can, but take time to do something special just for you. Have a relaxing shower or bath; listen to some music that you love; have a nice warm cup of tea or coffee or whatever you prefer, take an easy walk if that's your thing, just do something special and nice for you. Please?
Once again, thanks for sharing your story. I look forward to hearing more of your Christmas adventure. Now, go and see what Santa has got you and your wonderful family!
