Something’s not right

Not Sure What's Going On

Not Sure What's Going On

Hey there

I'm not too sure what's going on, but I know something Isn't right. I'm 16 and at the start of the year I noticed something wasn't right, but being a typical male, I haven't really told anyone. But anyway, I've noticed I get quite irritable quick and sometimes over little things, I don't have much patientce anymore, find it hard to get motivated with somethings, just wanna be alone and I'm always pretty tired. I sometimes feel short of breath and that I can't get enough oxygen. What's the go here?

Thanks, Sapper

Hi @Sapper13

Welcome to our forum and well done for taking this step of seeking some support. It sounds like you have seen quite a change in your mood and behaviour this year, and it is concerning.

Do you think you are experiencing anxiety? Shortness of breath with increased heart rate and feelings of panic can be a panic episode. Have family/friends noticed any difference in you?

Are you at school? Y10 or Y11? This is often the big pressure time for secondary students and anxiety is pretty common.

It's probably a good idea to talk to a trusted adult or your Dr about what is going on and they can get you some support. Headspace is the network of Youth Mental Health Services in Australia and a good place to connect with them is eHeadspace where you can get web counselling or join a chat room with other young people. Can be anonymous there too.

You are welcome to have a look around the various threads here and read any topics that may be of interest. Most of the members here will be older adults so we are honoured by your visit 🙂

Keep talking to people - don't deal with this alone.

Cheers,

Frog

Re: Not Sure What's Going On

It sounds like early signs of too much pressure. @Sapper13

I wondered what year you wer at at school .. and what your personal, parental and school expectations are like. They can be hugely different for different people.

I had feelings like not getting enough Oxygen and yawned a lot for about 5 years ... so I do think that we can get oxygen as well as sleep debts.

Do you you have a social life and do any sport or physical activity or is it all study? Is your home life supportive?

Not necessarily a MI. Dont be too quick to put yourself down or be too alert for signs. But it is good that you take note and are aware. Awareness might just mean to back off a bit in an area ... so you can respond with less irritation if things go a bit wrong ... Though a little expression of irritation is good as it discharges pressure so long as its not someone.

Re: Not Sure What's Going On

@Appleblossom Im in year 11, my school is quite good, and very supportive. Ive got great parents and they are great role models and support me. My social life is good, Ive got great mates and a girlfiend, I enjoy all of my hobbies, like shooting, hunting, camping, all that. But sometimes I just cant be bothered and it takes a bit to get out of bed, or to be happy about going. I do exercise, I also go to the Gym and build muscle.

At the start of the year though, when I did notice the stress building, I thought it was my girlfriend, so I broke up with her, that was a mistake, luckily she took me back, and we couldnt be happier.

Thanks alot for your reply!
