Hi @Trees

Everyone is different - and it is good that you have posted this time

I don't know what to advise - or suggest - except to say that unless anyone has been through all of this they don't get it -

But this site is worth being in - it is a kind of family - and no one criticises - you will feel at home here

So at this point - I would like to welcome you to this site - I am sure someone will be along soon who might be more useful than me

Wishing you well

Decadian

Another welcome to you, @Trees. If you keep exploring and posting, you will find so many of us here who identify with what you say. Mental health issues are a hard road to travel especially in the way of being understood by other people. I think you will find that these things are often best understood by others who have experienced the same. Even if this is not possible in our real lives, many of us find feelings of friendship and understanding here in the SANE community.

About your comment that you may not feel safe, there is also the Lifeline phone lines and chat centre to contact in times of crisis:

I mention Lifeline because it's always good to have more than one avenue of support. But hoping to hear more from you here too. Kind wishes.

Hi Trees. Instead of trying to explain something you don't fully understand yourself, I would concentrate on accepting yourself for the loving person I'm sure that's there. To understand mental health would take longer than you're going to live. Prince Phillip's mother had severe mental health issues, she overcame hers by learning how to lip read as she was profoundly deaf. Try writing down the things that make you happy, a nice day, and close friend/relations you have. While they don't 'know' the real you, the 'you' they know is the bubbly bright smiling person they see when they see you. Keep a journal, write down your deep, dark secrets about how you wish they 'know' you, then think about how they made you feel when you were with them. Did you want to stay with them or would you rather be alone in your 'dark' place. Being in the darkness is not all it's cracked up to be, is it. It's lonely, scary. Being with people who make you happy, is a good place as it feels warm, secure. Believe me, I'm not judging, I've been where you are and I know how lonely and scary it can be. You don't want to be there, so reach out, call someone, lifeline, just to talk. Someone will listen, guide and bring you the sunshine you're needing whenever you need it.
