Depression and Dopamine

Depression and Dopamine

Hello everyone

As @Former-Member said in another thread ;

as depression can really impact motivation.

Often times with depression it is not that people are lazy, rather their brains are not producing enough dopamine to give them the motivation to perform even the most basic of tasks.

How do you increase Dopamine ?? by certain Foods??,

what works and what does not work ??

Hi @Shaz51

There are lots of websites that claim you can increase dopamine levels by stuff like....

  1. Discover New Things
  2. List Down Your Small Tasks
  3. Listen To Music
  4. Increase Your Tyrosine- through Almonds, Avocados, Bananas, Beef etc
  5. Exercise Often
  6. Establish A Streak - a visual reminder of how many consecutive times you achieved something.
  7. Take Dopamine Enhancing Supplements like Curcumin, Ginkgo Biloba 9. Make Stuff
  8. Meditate
  9. Get creative and make stuff
  10. Yoga

I like the highlighted ones but I am not sure about validity vs personal preference and just generally supporting your mental health

what do others think?
