Business owner with BPD needing to go for in-patient treatment – what to say to clients?
Hi all, sorry if I'm not opening this thread in the correct category.
I need to go in for a 21-day in-patient program, I've finally been diagnosed with BPD after years of it being missed and although I'm described as "high functioning" in truth I've been deteriorating and am on my last legs keeping things afloat with my business, which is quite high profile in the regional town where I live. Really need to tell my clients that I am need to take three weeks off and book it asap, I was planning to tell them I need "medical treatment" and not give further details. But I'm a little paranoid that they will wonder about this, because it's not something visible like a knee reconstruction.
Has anyone been in this situation? What is the best thing to say, not just on how to approach the topic with clients but after I come back, too? Does anyone know if there is a mental health advice line specifically for business owners in this sort of situation? I've tried to find one but no luck so far. Hopefully someone among you can help. Thanks so much 🙂
