Could feel better than past days

Could feel better than past days

Shaking depression and anxiety off seems harder some days than others. This morning I'm not

the brightest little flower amonst the others in the garden. Try to distract myself and change my

thought patterns to more positive ones. Expect other forum members have these 'down' days?

Just try and make it through at one day at a time. Bimby2

Hi @Bimby2

One thing that did help me was a talk with my brother where we agreed to lower our expectations of life. It made it easier for me to accepting of not feeling "fantastic". Just trundling along.. sometimes from the bumps and thumps we encounter. Be kind to you.

Re: Could feel better than past days

Hi @Bimby2,

I suffer from anxiety and it comes and goes. As far as I can tell, it has a mind of it's own, because some days I have absolutely no idea what has triggered it. When the anxiety is not there I feel very relieved, which is an extremely pleasant experience for me.

A lot of days I don't feel happy but I know that nothing is wrong either. They are 'neutral' kind of days. On these days I can tip myself over into happiness if I do something really nice for myself - like doing some art or cooking my favorite food.

I agree with @Appleblossom in that we can't expect to be happy every single day. I think it is more reasonable to aim to be content. So that even though a few things might be going wrong, we know that we will cope and that everything will basically be ok, even if life is not how we imagined it should be.

I guess it depends on how bad a 'down day' is for you? When I have down day-

1. I accept it. Everyone has down days.

2. I formulate a plan to deal with it. I get out of the house. I think about wonderful things I want to do in the future - like travel. I call up a friend. I sometimes go online. I exercise.

3. I pat myself on the back for taking action.

I hope you are feeling better. Let us know how you are.
