Something’s not right

7 year old child "does not want to be"

7 year old child "does not want to be"

After my GP saying to me on Friday when I saw her- that if I ever feel in crisis -& don't know what to do- can't go to hospital-I should come to her surgery & sit with the nurses in the nurse area-

-Today I did just that-

- she came to see me & the first thing she said was- " you can't always come here when you are in a crisis- you can today- but you can't again"-

i am SOOOO CONFUSED !!! Why do ppl offer things- if they don't really mean it????

my daughter said to me yesterday- " MUMMY DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE I JUST SHOULD NOT BE?" - when we were discussing the ongoing bullying, which has been physical, exclusion , etc. going on at the school - which the school teacher & principal tell me "does not exist"-

this is effectively a seven year old saying she feels like she should not be ALIVE- she goes to her teacher- her teacher DOES NOT HELP HER !-

i call a support line after I tried again to explain situation to teacher& ANOTHER teacher came up whilst I was talking to her & he raised his eyebrows at her & smirked& she smirked back - this negative interaction was directed at me- leaving me feeling physically SICK-

the guy on the support line starts getting angry at ME - defending the teachers - saying he was a PRAiNCIPAL for 50 years & he knows better about the situation I AM LIVING than I do because he has been a principal for 50 years- he has completely not understood anything IV tried to explain to him& keeps turning the conversation onto himself-

in the end he said **All my daughters problems were my fault & caused because of my anxiety & had absolutely nothing todo with any other factor that I had mentioned-

**then he INSULTED ME & said "he completely understands why the teachers have difficulty interacting with me"- that was his literal words??!

i never said the teachers had trouble interacting w me- I said they were being disrespectful & rude when I try to express my very real fears about my daughters safety after she tells me she thinks she should not be??!!

Tha f&$@ !!!'

so I call helpline for help get attacked & insulted.

Go to Drs nurse area LIKE SHE TOLD ME!!!- get told I can't do that.

I don't want to interact with these people anymore- I don't want to be on this planet anymore!- what is wrong with people who are meant to help you & care for you- teachers? Doctors? Support line workers?

i am so far beyond DONE it is not even FUNNY!!!!

🙁 oh @Serenity1 . That's so hard. I really hurt when my kids are hurting and it sounds like things are really tough for your daughter at the moment

Does your daughter have any professional support people? Her comment sounds like a warning sign that things are becoming really hard for her to cope with, which I'm thinking is why you tried to find her some support.

It also sounds like you could really use an advocate or someone to help you sort through the challenges you're both facing at the moment. I'm not sure what state you're in but where I am there is a central intake service to link families in with community services. The Parentline website should have contact details for support in your state and it may be worth calling them, if you haven't already.

Sorry to hear that the supports you're trying to access at the moment aren't being very helpful. It's so confusing and disheartening when people offer support but then don't follow through with that.

Big hugs. It seems like you're trying so hard to find something/someone helpful. I hope that comes soon for you ❤

Hi @Serenity1

I'm very sorry that you had a terrible experience with the helpline counsellor.

Please don't think that they are all like that.

Please try again.

And please keep seeking support here.

Take Care.

Re: 7 year old child "does not want to be"

@Serenity1 i am sorry that sounds like a very frustrating few days/day. it is certainly difficult as far as telling what people mean when they offer support. often though in my experience people dont mean what they say most of the time. for example the GP saying "come sit any time you need" probably didnt literally mean that she probably should have said "if you need help please call the appropriate services" which i assume is what she meant. but people say things to try and be nice but they dont actually mean them when they say it. which is frustrating and difficult when you have a lot going on and dont have time to be dealing with people messing around. also helplines arent the best from my experience some people on them dont fully understand how intense thing can be and while they mean well and want to help they dont always know how because they dont have extensive training. I am not saying you are but do you often feel like you are being misunderstood or like you must be speaking in another language without realizing because no one seems to understand what you are trying to tell them? And do you often take things people say as exaclty what they mean? i am not trying to say you are wrong in what happened i just find sometimes when i am extreemely anxious i can miss things that i would normally pick up because my head is so distracted with other things that i end up doing things without considereing maybe a better way to go about doing it. but i could be wrong this may not apply to you at all i was just curious.

maybe see if you can find someone for your daughter to talk to professionally if that is an option. and good luck with everything.
