Something’s not right

not sure what to do

not sure what to do

HI everyone,

This is my first post so please bare with me. Six months ago I started to loose the plot and was voluntarily placed in a mental health facility where I was diagnosed with auditory hallucinations. After a few days I was released and put on medication for schziphrenia. After about ten months i was taken off gradually as I had shown signs of getting better. A few months later I was put back on the anti-psychs because I was showing signs of schziphrenia again. I would regularly attend appointments with my mental health nurse and psych to discuss how I was feeling.

A few years later I moved to another area where I have seen many people all who have a differing idea of what I have. In the three years I have been here I have been admitted to hospital at least 4 - 5 times because of wanting to hurt people, get rid of people, self harm, commit suicide, not taking medications, abscounding and being sectioned, etc.

As well as apparently having the schziophrenia I have been diagnosed with cluster b and c disorders, ODD and bpd. Every few months i go up and down in this wave of I don't know what only knowing that I don't feel right and always treat people poorly.

Four months ago I was taken off the anti-psychs altogether with the psych saying that I don't have schizophrenia and i can go off the anti-psychs gradually. In this time i was put on a plan so that i had things to do each day so that the thoughts would not fester.

Now that that has changed i feel like everything has changed and don't know where to go. I am told when i go to hospital everything is okay and to follow your strategies, but the strategies aren't working anymore as I have gone back to the beginning of where I was when I moved here. With that I even called the police on my dad becasue i have gone off ny meds and he was treating me with ill respect and he tried to break into the house to see if i was okay.

I don't know what to do now as it feels like the bpd has come through and no-one is paying attention. I am showing all the signs of bpd and not too sure how to handle it as range of emotions are coming through much like of the schziphrenia. What do other people do? I feel lost

Re: not sure what to do

@bluedog Hi bluedog welcome to the forums. It sounds to me that you need for find a psychiatrist that you have faith in for the long term treatment of your mi whatever that mi is labelled. The key to good treatment is taking the medication long term (as you won't see changes quickly). When you say bpd and schizophrenia are you meaning bipolar disorder or schizoaffective disorder? In any event only a very skilled psychiatrist will be able to quickly diagnose a mi and even then it will take several visits.

Take the time to look around to find someone you are happy with. Don't rush in. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck greenpea.

Sounds like you need to stay on the meds. Meds help.

Hi

Re: not sure what to do

@Bunniekins suggestion is wise. Regardless of a diagnosis of mental illness we need people to talk to. SO getting individual help is essential. There are also community health organisations that may offer family sessions. That may help sort out some of the misunderstanding between you and your father/family. If you can see he was coming from a genuine sense of concern which had escalated into seeming to be disrespectful, but actually being worried sick for you, then maybe some guided sessions could clear some ground for you.

I always see mental health as situational, although not all experts agree with that.

Meds are only part of an answer. Real formulations need to be developed in consultation with YOU.

Take Care

Re: not sure what to do

Hi, Am finally meeting with someone who is coming back from holidays so hopefully will be able to put somethings in place. I need someone to talk to as family only see me having a say as part of my ODD. They are very controlling, and while it may have come from a good place became intrusive as they wouldn't respect what i wanted. If there are any sessions family will intervene calling me a liar and making sure their viewpoints are put into place. The last person to stick up for my rights i don't see anymore as they don't fly in to the local mental health facility. Thanks for your post it helps a lot.
