I’ve new and never done this before

I’ve new and never done this before

I don’t even know how to start this. So the last few weeks have not been the easiest. It’s seems every night I’m dealing with depression and anxiety to the point that I’m in bed crying. I can’t sleep even when I’ve taking something make me sleep. I’m starting to Get really bad thoughts in my head.

I’ve been wanting to see someone about this for a long time but find it so hard to do that. I feel I’ll be judged or looked In bad way, but the thing that stops me more then that, is the fact I can’t do it on my own. It just Makes me feel weak and not in control, I hate not having control

Over my life. I want to desperately do this on my own, but I know I can’t.

Ive been starting to think that I’m better off not being here. Just feel like I have 0 positive thoughts. And no one cares about me. (Even though I know there is people who care about me). I don’t hate living I just hate this feeling I get every single day, I hate myself because I feel this way not because I hate the direction my life is going. I hate having to seem like I’m so happy all the time. I hate putting on this fake face in front of people. I hate being a inconvenience on people when I want to talk to them about how I feel, I feel stupid that something so little just completely messes with my head.

Black dog just really need you to go away so I can feel happy again

Hi there @Member007 Member.
Welcome to the SANE forums. I am glad that you have found your way to this supportive community. It sounds as though you are keen to get some support for your mental health and yet you're also a bit unsure about it.
It sounds like maybe you are being abit hard on yourself at the moment. Remember that reaching out for support when we're struggling is a sign of strength.
You might also like to introduce yourself on this thread here.
Please take good care of yourself and, again, welcome

Hi @Member007 welcome to the forums. Yes black dog is hard to live with, but asking for help is a huge step. You have started the process by reaching out here. Many of us are struggling through the same thoughts you are experiencing. You are not weak, it's an illness, just the same as any other. Profession care would be helpful, a GP can provide you with information and support. Sometimes what stops us going is a feeling of unworthiness.

You are welcome to join in any of the conversations on the forum.

Re: I’ve new and never done this before

Hi @Member007 your experience sounds like what i was dealing with years ago... Remember that life is a collaborative of factors which all come together to create ones existence... i reached out to my mother, my mother took me to the mental health facility, the mental healthy facility took me to the hospital in the city (they started giving me meds) they sent me to the institution, the institution diagnosed me and then sent me home. 12 years later I'm up to my neck in the system. And I'm no better or worse off then before reaching out to mother. *still got the same problems, now medicated to the eye balls, life really ain't that great...

The paid professionals of the system. Doctors. Nurses. Support workers. Psychologists. Psychiatrists. They are all paid. Trained and qualified around the basis of treating a patient like there is something wrong with them. And like they have the problems. (They don't like it the other way around) and they think they have the answers for people's supposed chemical imbalances in their brain. Through pharmaceutical drugs and pushing expectations. But is it really a chemical imbalance??? Or is it just natural??? And do their expectations really help??? Or does it just help you appear to conform to the society which has paid, trained and qualified them???... to treat people like there's something wrong, like the individual has problems and like they have the answers??? (Before, in my case, ever really finding out the patients own personal opinion about their lives, what's wrong, what the problem is, and their own mental and physical needs before being subjected to the paid, trained and qualified professional opinion. Which is based around saying something is wrong, there's problems, based on what the patients tells them in a matter of minutes. Which in turn. Ends up with the professional pushing expectations which they think will help. And is based around conformation into the society from which the professional is trained, paid and qualified by.

When this cannot be achieved because it is blatantly wrong the subject after all attempts to conform has failed. The subject then Regresses into a condition that is worse then to begin with, hence fuelling the cycle.

Hi everyone,

@Member007 it is really brave that you have come to the forum to reach out around this. It is already a step towards not having to do it alone - and that's just as brave as doing it on your own. As humans we can be very hard on ourselves as @Former-Member mentioned and the courage is really based in making the effort to reach out. You have some wonderful members in this thread with you already which is great to see.

As @eudemonism shared in their experience it can also be challenging going though the system, and everyone's experiences can be so different. I think it is fair to share the frustrations of the system and the valid insights we all have on this. It is also useful to notice on the flip side, that the mental health care system has shifted a lot more into person-centred styles of therapy where mental health professionals (just as all our moderators are) are looking to help clients or community members focus on their strengths and empowering them to access their own powers of help too.

Like @Bunniekins mentioned, a good starting place might be going to your GP, in partnership with connecting with others here!

Re: I’ve new and never done this before

Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is open up and be honest with a family member or a friend about what is happening to us @Member007.

This friend/family member can help with getting your appointments booked to see a psychologist and or psychiatrist.

If you find it too hard to talk to family or friend, go and talk to your local gp. Our negative self talk is strong and makes us think that we will be laughed at, told to go away, etc. This negative talk, you need to try to ignore. It's not true. It's not helpful.

Reach out to that one person, and you'll be on your journey to recovery.
