Attention seeking?

Attention seeking?

I'm a frequent poster on a baby forum (way too frequent actually!) and last night I told them that my husband is abusing me... I'm feeling terribly guilty because my husband is amazing!

Saturday night I pissed him off and he shoved me in the back.. It didn't hurt or anything... The next day he told me I'm lucky he didn't punch me in the face because I pissed him off so badly... I got angry and he said he was joking. I really don't think he would punch me in the face...

The mums on the forum were saying we need counselling and I need to leave him etc etc but today I'm feeling terrible about it because he really can be very sweet 😞

Hi @Goosegoosegoose,

I can hear how terrible you feel... and maybe even a little confused: "He can be very sweet", and "he is amazing". He also shoved you in the back and said you were "lucky he didn't punch you in the face". Sometimes words are said that aren't meant but what we know is that violence is never OK! Abuse comes in all forms not just physical, and verbal or psyhcological abuse tends to leave you confused and uncertain about what is really happening.

It is hard to take things back once they are said and it is important you don't feel more alone or isolated having made some comments that you think others have 'over reacted' to.

May I suggest that you contact 1800Respect (1800 737 732) to have a chat about your relationship and what might be happening. This is a great service where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, share some more details about the challenges you are facing in your relationship, and see if any of the concerns your friends have shared have merit.

Take care of yourself @Goosegoosegoose

How are things travelling at home now?

Thanks @PANDA 🙂

@NikNik I spoke to my psychologist about it and she gave me some tips on talking to my husband about it. We have a 9 month old boy who doesn't sleep so we're both VERY tired... His anger could be due to the sleep deprivation. We've agreed not to fight around the baby but that just means that now when we argue, we whisper... But he's been better for a whole day so that's positive I guess...
