My experience with schizophrenia

My experience with schizophrenia

Okay, first of all, I'd like to say that I'm confused as to whether what I have is schizophrenia or if it's something else, because it's really bizarre.

I used to have a boyfriend back in July 2015, but around the start of that month, that was when my schizophrenia appeared. I started hearing a voice that pretended to be him, and he was very creepy. He'd pretend to kiss me by making me lick my lips, but what was shocking most of all, is he convinced me to go to Melbourne saying that I would "meet my childhood friends" there.

If it wasn't for my sister picking me up, I'd be lost.

Ever since then, I've been on a lot of medication, but nothing has worked. The voice has said all sorts of offensive things to me, telling me to shut up and even calling my mother a slur. Is this normal for people with schizophrenia to have people saying coherent sentences like: "I hate you!" or something? Also, is it normal to have your imagination altered with schizophrenia? My voice (called Buns) likes to imagine things that make me uncomfortable.

I would really appreciate it if people replied with their own experiences with schizophrenia, I'd like to get more info about it.

Re: My experience with schizophrenia

@Feinerine Hi Feinerine and welcome to Forumland. I have bipolar1 and schizoaffective disorder which is like a mood disorder with schizophrenia. When I was psychotic I would go walking the streets at night because my voice told me to. He would make me drive everywhere never made it to Melbourne though ... has said all kinds of offensive things to me and about me so yes what you say says it me it is could be schizophrenia. Have you had a diagnosis of schizophrenia? Has your psychiatrist (I presume you are seeing one) given you that diagnosis.

You ask "Also, is it normal to have your imagination altered with schizophrenia? My voice (called Buns) likes to imagine things that make me uncomfortable." I would say absolutely I often say that my imagination is now like the multiverse in many ways and I try to desperately reign it back in.... I am getting there it just takes time.

Don't despair though many people do well with the right medications and the right therapies.

Have a look around the board there are many threads that you might feel helpful from chat threads to more serious threads. Anyway I hope I have helped a little bit. Wishing you all the best. gp

Re: My experience with schizophrenia

@Bunniekins Thanks for welcoming me! Is it okay if I could ask if medication made yours go away? Because that sounds like schizophrenia to me, too. Yes, my psychiatrist diagnosed me as schizophrenic.

Ohh, I see. Thank you for telling me your experience, it's a shame that this is a thing. I'll definitely look around the board some more, it looks nice. Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

@Feinerine I wish we could share our medications online but unfortunately we aren't allowed .... I still can't figure out why as other Forums you are allowed to ... anyways have fun looking around and I will see you around 😄
