The scars you cannot see...

The scars you cannot see...

This is how I can best describe my mental condition. After enduring 20 years of child abuse, I have scars, but they're not physical. They are mental scars, that when aggrevated, bleed profusly and send me into the abyss of depression and anxiety.

Even though these scars cannot be seen on my skin, they are always there, lying just under the surface, waiting for chances to re-open again. Sometimes I am sociable, outgoing and easy to get along with, but sometimes I can be angry, aggressive and hateful. Of course I never mean what I say in my fits of rage, but people cannot understand me properly becasue they can only see what's on the surface.

I have tried to stitch the re-opened scars back together, only for the stitching to erode away from life's unforgiving nature, and for those scars to bleed again and again. It's the same old cycle, day-in and day-out.

I grow tired of this continual pattern. I want to change for the better, but I think I'm only making things worse, aggrevating those scars over and over again.

Hi @EternalFlame

I like your post as you bring out different levels in emotions.

I too have many scars not seen, and I tried to make things right with people around me.

Life gets tricky when we feel we are repeating ourselves. That to me indicates a need for some time out . .. but how you arrange that ... can be mental or physical ... or ....

Hi @EternalFlame,

Thanks for sharing your story here. Your metaphor really captures a struggle that im sure many here on the forum can identify with. Your words are beautiful, even though the subject matter is painful. I hope you are finding the forum to be a supportive place and that you will continue to share.

All the best,

Chamomile.

Hi @Appleblossom, thank you for replying,

I'm glad you can relate to my post. 🙂

I'm always in this constant cycle, and it sucks becasue no matter

how hard I try, I can't escape it.

Some of the cyclical aspects of life can bring healing and hope and others wear us down.

I was taken by this pic of celtic thistles ... for some a weed, my nanna sprayed them bright colours and made flower arrnagements.

Yes, like the ebb and flow of the ocean.

But sometimes there are storms that we need to weather,

in order to see the rainbow through the clouds.

That's cool that your Nanna could make flower arrangements out of weeds.
