That's awesome @Jamc !

What's your favourite type of exercise at the gym? Weights? Cardio?

Re: Getting into life

Hi @Jamc congrats! It must feel so good to be getting that positive feedback from the people around you, including your doctor. I wonder, have you always enjoyed exercise or have you recently made a change in this area of your life? If so, what was the catalyst for that change?

Have never exercised before but my best friend and strongest supporter Lynda had been urging me for ages to do gym i finally agreed 2 months ago and it has been the best thing i have ever done for my Mental health just be aware not to overdo it and burn out

Re: Getting into life

Thats the thing being aware and steady about it @Jamc.

Gyms can actually teach more than just being sporty. There are a lot of benefits for those who struggle with mh issues as we get fairly immediate measurable information and can gauge our feelings and physiology as we become more informed about our specific cardio vascular performance.

Remember the difference between good and bad pain ... good pain is about lactic acid in the muscles ... bad pain is usually joint related.

My son went to gym for 5 years and I went for 7 years. it is not really my social scene but very valuable experience in the scheme of things.

cheers Apple

Re: Getting into life

Ouch I used to do a lot of lunges in a pump class ... thigh muscles are huge and when they stretch it hurts ... I only did pump at first at the gym for 2 years as I was too shy/orwhateveritwas to go to the mixed gym section alone.

Later on I liked it better as I could take as long as I liked and mostly was left alone to do my rehab.

Yeah lactic acid pain is good muscle growing pain.
