Dealing with BIG emotions

Dealing with BIG emotions

Hi All

How do you cope with big emotions? How do you access coping strategies you learnt?

I’ve spent the past few days angry, raging, feeling literally alienated and on the wrong planet. And then out of the blue it just hit me, right in the gut and I got so sad and I feel like I’m drowning.

I feel sick and want out of this game. The intensity is just too high.

How do you cope?

Re: Dealing with BIG emotions

@karin - when I'm angry or restless or whatever - sometimes I stomp around my house - yell into my pillow - dance crazy til I'm exhausted and out of breath.
After that - sometimes I cry. Sometimes I practice focusing on my breath and calming down. Other times I sleep.
Distraction when things are too hard to face.
Writing it all down when I can.
Sometimes it helps me. Sometimes not. It's a bit of trial and error.
