Something’s not right

Sometimes...

Sometimes...

...when my depression/PTSD is very bad I feel just being able to talk to someone could stop the suicide thoughts that follow visions of my husbands murder and previous trauma's... But who can I talk to who doesnt just want to fling me into the MH system which would make/has made me feel worse... Cant talk honestly to help lines - they would have/have had police at the door to drag me off to hospital and into that dreaded MH system... Cant talk honestly to family or friends - they have their own probs and dont need mine.

Re: Sometimes...

Hi @Zig Welcome to the SANE forums. I am sorry that you have had to go through theses trauma's in your life. I also suffer from PTSD and have suicide thoughts.

You are not alone in any of this and hopefully you find the support you deserve.

Do you see a counsellor/psychologist at all?

Please feel free to jump on any thread you like. There are some more serious ones as well as some social ones too. Once again, welcome.

Re: Sometimes...

Hi @Zig - welcome to the forums. This is a good place to be able to come and talk honestly about how we are going 🙂 It's safe here, though mods will check in with you to provide information about crisis services if they see a need, as there is still that duty of care here too. Even though the mental health system can be not so helpful at times I hope that if you're not feeling safe that you will/would reach out for help.
I also have PTSD and have battled with Suicidal stuff too. I wish that it was easier to get the help we need as we need it, in a safe way.
Keep talking here if it helps 🙂
Take care

Re: Sometimes...

Thank you Nell for your reply.... I saw home counsellors (I am afraid to go out) but didnt feel comfortable with the first - the second I was fine with but could not see where going over the details of the murder, and me being chased by the killer, again and again and again was helping me at all. All it was doing was making the awful visions worse - harder to cope with. I stopped her visits... I thought at my age (76) I should be able to 'sort' it myself - I was wrong.

Thanks again

Re: Sometimes...

Thanks for your reply lisajane.... I am so glad I found this safe place to share in... Having read a few pages I am already helped - I need a psychologist I think, if I can find one who does home visits. I have to keep looking as none are anywhere around me who do home visits, sigh.

Thanks again for your reply.

Re: Sometimes...

would you consider a psychologist who offered skype? I recently tried it (once lol) and it wasnt as bad as i expected... though it didnt work out with that person for me either... the skype thing was ok..
I keep thinking similar about 'should' be able to sort myself out and just 'be' better... if only we could click our fingers and be ok...
Take care

Re: Sometimes...

@Zig This is a great question. I have depresion and I cant find anyone to talk with I know that for me it would help. I dont have many friends and I cant talk to my family about it. I tried going to a physc but it was too dear and our scheduls didnt work out well either so at the moment I am just struggling along

Re: Sometimes...

I have PTSD also from a long ago incident, but I cannot talk about it because they would not believe me, I feel. Look around, and when you find a place that is safe for you to talk about it in, you will probably know it and feel a lot lighter on your shoulders. I'm rooting for you and hope you feel better soon.
