Security of site

Security of site

Hi @NikNik, @Former-Member and others,

I use a desktop to access the forum.

Today I noticed on my browser that I have a warning that the site is not secure. The exact words of this warning are:

'you should not enter sensitive on this site (for example passwords or credit cards), because it could be stolen by attackers.'

I am using the latest updated Chrome browser on a PC. The warning is next to the web address of the site, on the left of the address bar.

I seem to remember the site being shown as 'secure' there at times past.

Could you please look into this. Thanks.

Re: Security of site

Thanks so much for letting us know @Mazarita!

I'll make a note in my shift report so that technical mods on Monday can be made aware of it 🙂

I think some changes are happening right now with the website so that may have something to do with it.

Welcome, @Former-Member. It did occur to me that some changes were in progress at the moment and that this might account for it. Thanks for being onto it so quickly. And also for responding in 'The Long Rave'. Hope your day is enjoyable.

Re: Security of site

@Former-Member, just to let you know this appears to have been fixed now. Once again, the site is showing as 'secure' on my Chrome browser. Thank you.

Re: Security of site

Hi @Mazarita

I'm not really 'here' but happen to be doing some training today 🙂

We have looked into this, and the platform is still secure.

It would be great though if you could take a screenshot and a link to the page you noticed it on.

Is it appearing on all pages for you?

Re: Security of site

Hi @NikNik, well for a moment there it had been fixed! But now it's showing as 'not secure' again. It is again showing that every page I visit on the site as 'not secure'...

Re: Security of site

Hi again, @NikNik,

Reading that Google article I linked to about the security warning, I think the problem has something to do with whether the links we are using to get to the site are http:// or https://. ;

For example, when I go to the site by using https://saneforums.org, the site is showing as 'secure'.

However, every time I click a link from email notifications, the site is showing as 'not secure'. I'm assuming this may because the links we receive in the mail are http:// links.

I may be barking up the wrong tree in saying this, but I thought it might be helpful for your techs.

Re: Security of site

HI @Mazarita

Thanks again for raising this.

It looks like you found out why you were seeing the notification 🙂

It seems that it was linked to an issue we were experiencing at the end of last week and should all be fixed now.

I wanted to flag though, all the personal information on here remained private and wasn't an indication of the site security.

Thanks again for flagging this!

Nik
