Re: Really Struggling
One medication may work well for you - but if you go off meds and later try it again - that med may not work - or you may struggle with side effects. I'm finding that.
If you had diabetes or heart disease - would you try to come off the medication? I wouldn't. So why don't we treat MI with the seriousness that it deserves.
Stick witg your new meds if they are working.
Personally I find I'm better on my AD's than off them.

Re: Really Struggling
Hey there @Struggles and welcome to SANE. Since beginning medications 12 years ago, I've never gone for longer than a few weeks off them (antidepressants and antipsychotics). I found I relapsed each time and often had to change medications, as my current ones lost their efficacy.
I've found I'll likely be a lifer when it comes to medications. I've been on my current antidepressant for a few years now (at various doses). I found my life isn't ruined by antidepressants, rather antidepressants help me to repair an already fractured life.

Re: Really Struggling
Hi @Struggles,
I hope the antidepressant you've just gone back on starts to take effect soon.
I use only minimal amounts of medication. For most of the 22 years that I've been dealing with my muddles, I've been totally unmedicated. This is because I have Borderline personality disorder (BPD) and it is well accepted that medication has little if any effect on treating BPD.
At the moment I am on an antidepressant because due to life circumstances, I was struggling with very severe depression last year. If my life circumstances were to change, I would most likely go off the antidepressant. I don't have any philosophical aversion to medication, I just don't want to be taking medication that I don't need to. If I tried going off it and found that I crashed, I would happily go back on it.
What makes you feel that antidepressants might have ruined your life? Do you get bad side effects from them? I've always been super lucky in that I've never had bad side effects.
