Who can give a specific diagnosis

Who can give a specific diagnosis

So after being in hospital I received my discharge papers and there is no official diagnosis on the papers but I was verbally told what I have. Ndis want a specific diagnosis. How have others gotten around this?

You need to see a psychiatrist to get a formal diagnosis.
Alternatively you can contact the hospital to write one for you.

I need to find a new psych as the one I was seeing I have lost faith in. I only have 21 days to apply there’s no way I will get in to see anyone new in that time.

Call the hospital, explain the situation and see if they will do it for you.
If not, have you asked your GP? NDIS will require a psychiatrists one, but a GP might be able to get you an extension.

I already got an extension because my gp is on holidays until the 15th but it still won’t give me enough time to get a psych evaluation. For the sake of ndis do you think I should go back to my old psych. I’m just a little scared to because the meds he put me on sent me into psychosis.

Thanks 5-ht I think I’ll call the hospital and ask for a letter.

Worst case go to the old psych.
But to be honest, I'm not sure why you only have 21 days? (But I'm not overly familiar with NDIS)

I have no idea. They said you have 21 days from the application request on the phone to me. I called them back and asked for an extension and that was granted. Between psychologists, psychiatrists, medication and my crappy illness, I am broke and too anxious to work atm. Thanks for your help though @Former-Member

If you've just gotten out of hospital you're too sick to be doing this.
Ring them up and explain the situation. I'm not sure how helpful they will be, but you need to be taking care of yourself not running around filling out paperwork!!
And get a good psychiatrist too- you need a bit of support from them right now too.
Best of luck - let me know how it goes.
