Something’s not right

Not sure if I want to keep going on

Not sure if I want to keep going on

Well I had a threatening phone call from NDIS on Wednesday stating if I was to use any of the funding towards OT, Physiotherapy, psychology it would be a misuse of governement money I would be forced to pay back(which I later on found out was a federal offense) and I have a service agreement with OT which my Support Coordinator allowed.

My Support Coordinator who is supposed to break down my funding and help set up services hasn't and still advising me Physio and OT and even did a budget with only those 2 things.

That night I took twice amount of anti anxiety meds as they are starting to not work anymore as had GP appt the next day with my OT (even had a written list of things but refused to prescribe any meds or offer additional support even though I felt suicidal and told them both in the session, saw my Mental Health Nurse Practitioner later gave him a copy of the list I gave to my GP no additional help excpet call 000 buit keep getting refused any help.

Ended up at One local hospital Wednesday night as moods got worse and the nurse told me from the start no help will be given as no psychiatrist had previous reports from my supports also what I gave to my gp that day, sent me home with a cab charge.

Yesterday Ended up at another local hospital well they are trying to set up community mental health (who has told eveyone previously they wont support me in any way because of NDIS) and gave me some information regarding their anxiety clinic and sent me home as was told he would make sure community mental health would check up on me.

I am fearful that
a. Community mental health will continue to refuse or

b. call or come out and abuse me for wasting their services yet making my moods worse.

@sjpersonal Hi welcome to the misery of the NDIS! You are not alone in finding it impossible to work with. I know of many people who are finding it difficult as all it has done has effectively passed on all the work to the client to do instead of the government. For alot of people it would be near impossible to work their way through it.

I have been told the best thing you can do, (this is quite serious), is to go to your local NDIS office and sit and wait for someone to see you. It may take hours and they will try and put you off, but for problems such as yours you might find that is the best way to go about it. Just refuse to leave until you are seen too.

Once you get the stupid NDIS working for you not against you then hopefully you will be in a better frame of mind to cope with your troubles.

Let me know how you go. Good luck.

Been told by NDIA and my disability advocate the only next step is an appeal through the AAT as my reviewable review was rejected :'( which will take months which at the moment I dont feel I have and that is if the AAT agrees and if NDIS will cooperate with AAT.

Yes it is a nightmare ... @sjpersonal it is so overwhelming I know ... from personal experience I know how difficult it is. I would still suggest going into the office with a support person to speak with you to help get this straightened out. Do you have someone who can do that with you?

If you can write out all your concerns and go through them with an NDIA customer service officer face to face I think that might help. It is all very daunting I know .... I am not happy with what I am receiving for my son but I am currently putting it to one side right now otherwise I will start climbing up the walls.

@sjpersonal Your support coordinator should be doing all the NDIS leg work for you ... time to get a new one ... I would be discussing all of this with my gp as I know you are not alone with this, he/she might have some ideas on how to help you navigate the NDIS.

It would be good if someone could go with you to the NDIA for emotional support if there is no one available then I would write everything down so that you do not forget anything and get down there. We are always here to talk to while you are waiting so you wont be alone in a technical sense.

There are free psychologist appointments through the BOMBH scheme too, 10 if I remember correctly which really helped me which your gp can organize for you.

Good luck sjpersonal. I am sure you will be fine and get this sorted. Remember you are not alone in this.

NDIS VWA Are all government schemes the same? They seem to destroy those that need the most, if you need help you shouldn’t have to prove you are worthy or genuine! I’m mean why are Mental Health and psychological injured so hard to prove? Our minds control our entire body and how we live, why on earth would anyone chose to injure their mind I’m not sure it’s even possible. So if someone is asking for help with their mental health why is it not an emergency? If you amputate a limb you can still survive, if you lose your mind you can’t.
I hope you get some answers, I have no experience with the NDIS only VWA and it has destroyed me

Hey @Puzzle, don't think I've met you just yet so thought I'd run the risk of threadnapping and say hi and a big welcome!

I don't have the NDIS in my area yet, but I am only linked into a psychologist (via the MHCP) and support worker (via PHaMS). My support worker is getting me ready for my application with the NDIS though and has said she will school me through the whole process until I quit with her in July next year. I am not looking forward to the process and she has warned me that it can be super stressful, so start gathering important application 'evidence of need' now.
