Hi @Rainbow789, welcome to the Forums. I'm glad you found us. I hope by reading through different threads here you'll feel less alone and find yourself amongst people who understand and can relate. Congratulations on taking such proactive steps and being willing to do the work to manage your condition. DBT is considered the 'gold star' treatment and so I hope that you have a positive experience.
Here are some places to visit in the Forums which may be useful: The story of someone else newly diagnosed here. A positive radio story here and a Topic Tuesday where the guest presenter has done a great deal of research about BPD here.
There are also some members who may be able to stop by and share their experiences. Perhaps @Crazy_Bug_Lady, @Raven and @Angel can shed some light on their journeys in dealing with BPD.
I'd love to hear back about your experiences with DBT. How are you feeling about contacting the therapist on Monday?

Hi,
I would just like to say that my son was finally diagnosed with BPD this year after struggling for many years. He is now in a DBT course and it is making a big difference to him. He no longer feels like hurting himself or suicidal. He has also learnt to control his drinking & is a much happier person. There is the occassional anger outburst but much much less. So hopefully, you will find DBT very helpful.

I was diagnoised with BPD going on 2 years ago. After a miss diagnosis two year before. I am about to experience my 4th hospitalisation starting tomomorrow as my medication has stopped working.
I did DBT for 6 months last year and it did make a massive change in all my behaviours. The anger went away and hasn't come back. Once out of hospital I will begin DBT with my psychologist again. These skills are life changing.
I wish you well on your road of DBT

I did a DBT program at a private hospital and I found that after the first 6 weeks I wasn't so angry.. I had better relationships with my parents and with my boyfriend (now my husband :)) I could better express my feellings and not feel so screwed over. My alcohol use decreased also, although not intentionally, i just didn't feel like I needed a drink. In all honesty, I think it saved my career.
