ignored

I know I have had to put healthy boundaries in place with my mother, as she beat me up once and married 4 husbands, (that were sometimes violent) and she would verbally abuse me in episodes through the months and years. And I know it is a good thing I've wanted for no more contact, but in some ways I'm happy without contact with my mother, but the idea that I have no mother at all and she doesn't reply to my pleasant e-mails makes me feel rejected or abandoned.

I feel sad sometimes that I don't have any mother or real family, and I can see that most people have a loving family to support them.

The best one of my Church friends says I can do is not dwell on my mother, which I don't do now, and he says i need to keep my central focus on Jesus. He is trying to stop me from talking about my mother and saying ' central focus' on Jesus. I'm sorry but i was not talking about the bad things my mother has said and done, but needing to say I miss not having a normal, loving mother. I wish I had a loving mother that I could talk to.

Hi @BambiFawn

I hear you and understand. I often wished I had the love of my mother for so many years, and this is empathised when witnessing those who do. What I try and do is be the best one I can be to my daughter but often feel the void of not knowing this myself. I empathise with you. You are not alone. Sending you a warm hug xxx 🤗❤️

Re: ignored

Hey dear lovely @Former-Member, thank you for being so caring and kind to me. You sound like a wonderful and loving mother to your beloved daughter. Good on you. You deserve words of praise. I try to demonstrate my love and affection to my child, but sadly her love and loyalty has been bought by my mother. And my mother has brainwashed her as she has raised her since the tender age of 7. So I try to send cards and gifts to my child regularly but she is being controlled by my mother, and so often I may not get a reply for a long while. However, I do not blame my child, as she is influenced by my mother. Anyway, I'm trying to always be there for my child and be the best mum I can be.

Your welcome @BambiFawn

I didn't realise you had a child. I lost three. It's good you are keeping contact - your child knows you love him/her and thats what matters. All we can do is our best and take comfort from that. Sweet dreams dear @BambiFawn 😴💕

Re: ignored

Oh, @BambiFawn, I don't know what to say. I feel for you. Unfortunately we can't change people, they are who they are. So many of us struggle with all sorts of childhood trauma and so often the very people who are "supposed" to lookout for, care for, protect and love us are the very ones who abuse, hurt, betray and often don't believe us. I imagine it would be extremely difficult for you to keep trying to have some sort of relationship with your mother, but as you have indicated, she is not responding as you would like her to respond. I would find her inaction extremely hurtful and distressing, so I am wondering if it might be an idea not to reach out for a while? (Only a suggestion.) Believe me, many of us don't have the "loving" family relationship that you envisage to be normal. Society as a whole has alot to answer for with the idealised family life that is depicted in tv shows such as The Brady Bunch and the many family-oriented Christmas feel-good movies, which is so often pure fantasy. Dear @BambiFawn, you have us forum people as your family, which I know isn't the same as a mother/child relationship, but we do care about you, so please don't think you are alone. It must be difficult knowing that your mother is caring for your child, so that is a double sadness. Keep in contact with your baby. You are a beautiful, caring person, and we are here for you and won't abandon you. Take care.

Re: ignored

Hey dear lovely @NatalieS, thank you for being so caring and I am grateful to you for your good advice. Yes, I am happy in my station in life, as happy as I could be and I have God to thank for that for helping me and healing me of my troubles. We all have problems in life and mine is just a little pothole in the road on my journey and it won't stop me from enjoying my life. As you said lots of people have difficulties in their marriages and family problems, be it illness, financial problems, homelessness, or relationship discord and breakdown. We just have to make the most of life and I am trying to count my blessings everyday.

Hugs and bless you dear Natalie.
