Re: Coming out of breakup

Hi @Andey,

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your breakup. Sounds like a really tough time and it's totally normal to feel all sorts of horrid emotions afterwards. Rejection is one of the hardest emotions to deal with and relationship grief can be really complex.

Make sure you go easy on yourself. If you need to to talk to someone about it, Lifeline is always open on 13 11 14. of if you are 25 or under there is also Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800 also 24/7 - or a webchat on more limited hours https://kidshelpline.com.au/teens/get-help/webchat-counselling/

Hang in there mate

All the best

Re: Coming out of breakup

Hi @Andey Sorry about your break up. They are often painful for most people. It certainly does not mean that you are cursed. Give your self time to grieve the person and your hopes and dreams about the relationship.

AND

Get back doing the things that give you satisfaction or meaning.

I often dive into relationships too full on and it has taken me a long time to learn to back off and take things more slowly.

Take care of you

Ultimately in or out of a relationship we have to look after ourselves.

Keep posting if it helps.

Hi @Andey,

I'm Flipper one of the Sane moderators. I'm sorry to hear you're hurting, I hope things are starting to look up for you. How was the rest of your week? @Appleblossom made a fantastic point of letting yourself grieve and then doing things to look after yourself, engaging in things that give you meaning.

Would love to hear from you again.

Re: Coming out of breakup

@Andey. Being alone and lonely can be really hard. Especially after a painful breakup. This is when we really need to focus on something we enjoy. Something positive. Do you beling to a sporting ir art or craft group? Submerging yourself in activities you enjoy, can take the focus of your loneliness.
I'm sorry you are in pain.

Re: Coming out of breakup

Hi @Andey sorry to hear about your recent break-up. Don't let this be a reflection upon yourself however, I'm sure you're a great person! @Appleblossom has a brilliant point about allowing yourself time to grieve the relationship. Also, do some reconnecting with things you enjoy, as this can help you through this difficult time. Things like discovering meetup groups or craft/exercise groups are important to relieve the loneliness you may be feeling at the moment.

Take care and be gentle with yourself. Look forward to reading more of your posts.

Re: Coming out of breakup

Hi @Andey

I have had two long term relationships - a marriage and a serious relationship for some years - and both failed so I know how we all need to grieve when they are all over - that is a natural part of life - and not at all pleasant and I understand

Sometimes some people need to settle for a life alone - sure it can be lonely and part of coping with that is to find the love within ourselves for ourselves

It may be true that at this time it seems that no one loves you - and maybe they don't but that doesn't mean you are cursed to be hated - not at all

Personally - I chose to end both of my relationships - and I think that my ex-husband and ex-boyfriend might have hated what I did - after all - I would not tolerate being treated badly - but most importantly - there is no reason to hate ourselves

As suggested - find some new things to do - whatever interests you - and consider this fortunate that you have broken out of what was not a nourishing environment

I am sorry this has happened and you feel this way - in the end we all have to be here for ourselves

And I do wish you the best
