Let it be known that (P), my perfect beautiful cat, passed away peacefully at * Veterinary Hospital today aged 13 years 7 months, held safely in my arms. (P) will be deeply mourned and missed by me and his feline brother (S). However, he is now joyfully reunited with (M) (1997 - 2012) and (C) (2004 - 2016) across the Rainbow Bridge.
(P) you came into my world during the tumultuous final days of the court case wherein I sued the church where I was abused as a young teenager. Since then you have been a daily reminder of how many dark times I have already survived, thus giving a glimmer of hope that future dark times are also survivable. I will miss you so much. You are the last of a generation. How many hundreds of times have I wanted to suicide and yet I have always stayed for my boys. I always promised you, (M) and (C) that I would see you all safely across the Rainbow Bridge. Today I can say that I have kept my promise. It is finished. It is done.
I love your young brother (S), but the relationship is different because he is part of a new generation. He has not experienced what you, (M), (C) and I experienced together. I am eternally grateful to our awesome vet who came up with an out-of-the-box solution that kept you happy and comfortable for the past ten months. This gave us time to process your impending relocation to the Rainbow Bridge. You first fell ill only five weeks after (C) crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and only three weeks after my then-therapist dumped me a day after getting me locked up in the psych ward. That was such a horrific time, (P). I am so very very grateful that our vet was able to come up with the solution that she did for you.
That extra time has allowed us to see a more natural progression and changing-of-the-guard between you as the end of one generation and (S) as the beginning of another. I know that your as-yet-unknown baby brother will come some time. We have talked a lot about him and you know his name. He will come, and then I will be the proud owner of four cats and one dog...although my dog and two of my cats happen to live across the Rainbow Bridge. We are a family (P), we stay together, and the mere inconvenience of death cannot change that.
I love you (P).
