unwanted thoughts

unwanted thoughts

Does anyone get 'unwanted' thoughts?

I have had some trouble with thinking about life too much - how we are so small in relation to

the World and the Universe....I wish I could block these thoughts...

the thoughts get scary

Does anyone experience this and how to do you 'switch' them off?

I am not sure if diet can have an impact on the thoughts ....too much sugar ?

Re: unwanted thoughts

Hi @jamesle2015,

Sometimes, the harder we try to block out a thought, the more we think about it. How have you managed these types of thoughts in the past?

Re: unwanted thoughts

Hi @jamesle2015

I have just written an answer on one of your other posts.

Have you talked to your GP or another health professional about "clearing the images" and "stopping the thoughts"?

I experience intrusive thoughts, flashbacks and "unwanted thoughts". Sometimes they spiral out of control. Really bad. I have asked the question to stop my brain a million times. There is, in my case, only measures I can take to help. I have medication (and I know that should not be my first solution), I have learnt a lot of grounding techniques, I have flashcards to help me find something that can help, including phone numbers to frineds, counsellors and services. I have found things to soothe me. But I think all of this is unique to every person and to the background why you cannot stop your thoughts. In my case CBT and especially thought and belief challenges can trigger me really badly, so I stay away from them, but I know that many many people are very successful in using these techniques.

As I said in the other post, if you feel comfortable to share a little bit more - and by no means feel like you have to - it might be easier for people to connect and help.

Take care.
