Things that go bump in the night

I was at work last night. Everything fine enough. Then was asked to fill out Laborhire form which I had never had to before. In my mind it made me feel second class as most people are working direct with the company . Just got in a really black mood, all of a sudden hating everyone there and wanting to just leave. Well I was working direct for them years ago and there are scars of failure/going nowhere. I didn't say anything , probably just looked and acted weird, well I felt that way. Was going to say I couldn't drive the minibus which no one else wanted to drive anyway as I was 'only Laborhire'.. anyway.. boss saw me as leaving and said he would try and get me work more often. I just blurted things that didn't really make much sense but thanked him and drove the bus back to their yard. Still feeling a bit weird. If I cant get work more often I'll be put on cashless welfare due to where I live. ...am a stress ball a bit atm , trying to get ahead, make up for past mistakes and feel just getting rug pulled from underneath me ..

Hi @TAB, I can relate to you as I know how it feels to be insecure at work. You don't know how much work you will get from week to week and it is frustrating.

One good thing is that your boss said he would try to get you more work, so he must be happy with you. Just keep your head up. I wouldn't worry about the 'laborhire' thing, as it is probably just something new they are trying.... companies are always finding new ways to try and save money and have less obligations towards their workers. It's just the way things are going right now.

Hopefully they will still reward workers for good work by giving them more security after a trial period.

Thanks @Sahara . I have worked for them before and had same promises before. Reality is that as Laborhire I am the last cab off the rank so to speak. They have their own permanents then casuals then if thats not enough they go to Laborhire. I get maybe 10 days work from them in a block every 5-6weeks. Have been back with them over 6mths now and nothing has changed. I haven't been sleeping well lately or any of the 'looking after yourself' things .. was just surprised how my brain just went from zero to a hundred like that. And wanted to share it somewhere..that's all

good you got it off your chest!

I can see what you mean about being last in line. That is annoying to be there just when it's convenient for them. Can you get another job? Or if you go directly with a labour hire they might have work more often?

I hope you're getting some sleep now 🙂

Hi @Former-Member yes, exactly what it was re getting it off chest, even tho may have been a circumstantial brain bomb on my part lol, all based in reality well partly, then enhanced ever so slightly by me. Ah am Laborhire so costs them more so last to get work, use own people first, makes sense. Have put name down at other places and getting ready to upskill/apply anywhere. ...hey you😀 ..okay something did go 'bump' in the night😺lol no work til tomorrow night, dift company dift site, then tafe stuff , look for more work etc. fathers bday tomoz , rang today in case sleep tomorrow cos working ok 1 night. He commented I hadn't rung in a while yet little to say and wanted to get off the phone well after 15mins. Think 2nd time rang him since 21st May, that would make 4 calls and one visit this year if dont include xmas lol. Hope you are feeling a bit better. 😀
