Relapsing

Relapsing

Hello, new around here but decided I might start a thread.

I've got OCD and have recently relapsed, and was wondering how do you pick yourself up again? I just feel so pathetic and defeated at the moment 😞

I feel like I am back at square one after having made some good progress...

Re: Relapsing

I find when my OCD gets bad that i have to keep busy or do other things that kind of force my OCD to take a back seat. also sometimes I just have to use some "radical acceptance" (a DBT technique) and that helps me to put things into perspective. but mostly it is about being aware of my thoughts and feelings and trying to recognise which ones are just the OCD and which ones are actual concerns. i hope some of that made sense but if it didnt let me know and i will try and explain better. i am sorry you are having a hard time @Haruspex123.

Re: Relapsing

Thanks for your reply- yeah I have been through some similar things with my psych, it just seems like I can't catch a break at the moment!

Yeah I am really trying at the moment to make them take the back seat. Moping around probably isn't helping...

Re: Relapsing

yeah it is not easy OCD can be super difficult to deal with at times. just keep trying and hopefully things will get better for you soon. but i find that for me at least my OCD fluctuates a lot and i go through good and bad phases hopefully soon you can be in a good phase.

Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only with this problem! Good to know I'm not just falling apart..
