I guess I try to ignore them!
I don't hear them very often, and usually only when I'm really unwell.
But I find listening to tv, talk back radio and white noise helpful. Relaxation (PMR), going for a walk or a run. All helps.
And most importantly I go to see my doctor.
What do you do?

My voices are always derogatory so I use a lot of distraction techniques (listening to music, creating art, watching a good movie, playing a computer game etc). If they persist I talk to my psychologist or psychiatrist.
However having said that, sometimes my voices arc up a bit because I am overly stressed. I have to be careful to remain as stress free as possible (it is impossible to avoid all stress however). My partner is my carer and we have adopted a traffic light system (green is good, yellow is need a bit of support, red is things are bad for me). Each day she asks me how I am or I can leave her a card showing the appropriate colour. If the colour is yellow or red, we can have a conversation about what I need right now in means of support and/or medical intervention.

Thats really good @Queenie. I like the card idea. My husband is my carer when im unwell.
Its really hard for me . I try to distract myself but sometimes it doesnt work. Sometimes they become very overwhelming and i have no contol over them.

Sorry, but are you talking about auditory voices that we hear like voices in the dark or voices inside the mind?

I hear voices as if someone is actually speaking to me @Blitter2016. It is like hearing disembodied sounds and speech. For me they are external.
