Extreme Paranoia
Her Beautiful Mind
They have been using her television as a camera. Her computer has been hacked and is now an interplanetary ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) window. But alert and diligent in her cause, she smashed the screen just in time. Now exposed and inert are the experimental bio-plastic tendons. Also there, but not so obvious are the top secrete Neuro-Synthetic Dendrites and of course, the binary coded viral synapse. That burning smell from the television is a definite indicator. They naturally expect no one could ever know.
Now she can sit back and compile the evidence. So many newspaper cuttings each morning she assembles. Her home is now a tomb, walls lined with the evidence that will send Bush, Reagan and Clinton to the chair.
Now she is the chosen one. Such a perceptive, thorough and conclusive investigator, she is spontaneously aroused by the tiniest spark. She is no longer handcuffed since those tablets were flushed.
The Housing Commission Officer rang the doorbell, but he must wait outside. He knows the routine by now. She must cut the buttons from his shirt. Ordinary folk don’t know about these ingenious bugs. The silver genetic decoding device in his ear is certainly no hearing aid. He knows by now, he must leave it on the tank stand wrapped in foil. Such a professional he wore cloths this day with fewer buttons and continuously spoke very loud, pretending to be deaf. They naturally expect no one could ever know.
ESP transmission modulators were hidden in her hot water service. So obscure in her laundry, terra bits of data are intercepted to jeopardise the Martian voyage. These sinister creatures control time and dimension of course, disguised as the next door neighbours children.
How brilliant was this Trojan-Horse. They appear so innocent and earthly. But she is so spontaneously alert to all things evil.
She found the courage to video the entire procedure unfolding next door. So cleverly disguised as “hide and seek”, they function around the tree house. They naturally expect that no one would ever know.
As more tablets are regularly flushed into the sewer, the more ingenious are the revelations that astound her. How did she know that she must place the camera back to front? How did she know that the batteries must be reversed? How did she know the sandwich eaten by the smallest child contained the left kidney of the Housing Commission Officer?
He had lost patience and was far away by now. Still he managed to scramble the modulator and corrupt her video. Most of the recording was blank and the only vision remaining was of her face at the very beginning of the procedure before she managed to reverse the battery.
This moment of failure urged her to phone her friend Doug. He can often detect oscillations in her neural patterns. He may be able to de-energise the hot water service modulators and render this creeping evil inert.

When he answered the phone, Doug recognised the “Star Trek” flavour of her tones. He drew a deep breath. It was not easy to visit this home. The last invasion was from Jupiter. She could see when he arrived that day, they had taken over his body and she tried in vain to cut off his head with a Samurai Sword.
When in the company of this turmoil, when she unloads the psychotic conclusions of her high speed ingenious paranoia, well may we wonder why she is not in hospital? Still, she begs him to rush to her aid and help gather evidence in her fight against what?
Whilst on the road he assembles a picture in his mind. As each piece settles into place, the puzzle grows more chaotic. The mental health people will not attend as usual. They say, as is routine by now, they have, “no more visit allocations remaining for this week. We saw her yesterday. She is fine.”
So Doug is left wondering, will she come to the door naked with that sword again, or perhaps a broken bottle to glass the face of invaders. As usual he is thinking, why am I doing this?
On arrival Doug encounters a man at the door and concludes he must surely be a lunatic. He has no buttons on his cloths. He is talking very loud and his hearing aid is wrapped in foil on the tank stand.
At first Doug did not appreciate the man laughing at him. But when an Irish accent said “Do you know our special lady and the procedure with the shirt buttons?”
Doug looked at his shirt array of decorative badges and no buttons. He felt comforted in the company of such a confused, like minded generous man.
“You can’t see through her windows”, he explained.
“She painted them black” he said, expecting some surprise.
But Doug took a punt and pushed open the front door. Fortunately, there was no sword and she was reasonably clad.
There she was white eyes in darkness, folding paper, reading a story about Mr Ed and talking as a horse might. She was cutting paper, comparing the pieces and holding them up to a torch light wrapped in tea towels made in Malta. She would pause and drink red wine from a huge glass that had several grasshoppers and moths floating on top.
“Finally I have the evidence”, she said. “The man at the door is the Martian agent. He is friendly now and my cuttings have helped him cross over. But I am not so sure about you. How can you come here pretending to be Doug? How dark is your darkness? I guess you expect no one would ever know.”
Her Beautiful Mind III
Time and space are cumbersome for ordinary folk. They do not understand the infinite value of the micro second she may grant them. This morning she rushed back from Cryptonia to experience her lounge chair for a micro-second. A few things were alarming. Catastrophic manipulations were unfolding in evil quiet.
The Neuro-Synthetic Dendrites and of course, the binary coded viral synapse that hung from the broken computer screen, were silent and gathering dust. There were insects mutating there and quietly evolving supreme alien traits.
Not surprising, she was able to instantly visualise the rout cause of this impending catastrophe. The ESP transmission modulators in the hot water service had slowed to a frequency only meaningful to the gifted.
This triggered a sudden realisation that the bottle of pills she had flushed away a few days ago would have mutated in close vicinity of the ultra-low frequency modulators. These small white jewels of Satan would have evolved into supreme gems of enlightenment and if she could swallow some before the passing of the hour she could save the world from the great tribulation.
With no time to loose she flung herself onto the floor of the wash room and fearlessly reached into the pipes, navigating the "s" bend with a fearless extended grasp and pulled from the vile waters, various satanic cocoons of evil and the mutated gems of enlightenment.
How amazing is her extraordinary ability to unravel and recover what would surely be a lost cause for mankind? Despite the successful action of her ingenious decisions, she still felt a need to call her friend Doug. She informed him that he could have the honour of assisting her through this historic defining moment.
Doug is wise enough not to anticipate the situation or make further inquiry. He put on some workshop safety shoes and glasses, then drove one hour, arrived and carefully searched to find her in the wash room. There was a vile odour. She was eating from her hand as he approached. She screamed into his face, "Don’t touch the gems. I have only seconds remaining".
Doug could see that she was eating something awful. He tried to take hold of her arm. But she was God's soldier now, her eyes were on fire and she ran from the house to the backyard, naked and covered in filth.
Doug has seen this creature enough to know there are no surprises. So he walked outside calmly to find a 6 year old child in the back yard cooking a sausage. There was a fire built from plastic clothes and furniture. Around the yard were glasses, half full of wine, beer and dead blow flies. The self-appointed saviour of the human race was walking from glass to glass devouring the contents making hideous sounds one might hear in the jungle.
Doug managed to find a moment when he could take the sweet young child to his car and escape. The car had a moment of starting trouble. Oh my God he thought what will happen now, as she came running naked from the house screaming his name? In her hand she waved a fist full of documents.
Her young daughter sitting beside Doug was so spooky calm and in control of her thoughts. Seems she knew she was being rescued yet again by a stranger. Her body language gave Doug the strength to open the car window and see what happens next.
She stopped beside the car and her filthy hands came through, dropping a dozen pieces of paper on his lap. "There, the basted robbed me. Go and sort the basted out," she said.
The documents were from the Salvation Army Store, a couple of blocks away. Doug decided to go there, take a moment, ring mental health and perhaps ask the store owner for some advice and info.
The mental health call went as expected. The nice man on the line said he had been at her home early that day and she was in good health. He had been able to arrange a custody visit of her daughter. Again he indicated that they were not able to have contact more than an agreed frequency each week. Doug just hung up the phone in a confused state of mind.
He walked into the store. The owner was on the phone talking to the police. He was talking about a woman who had turned up at the store that morning with an axe, threatening the staff.
Doug intervened in the discussion, told him he knew who it was, where and that the police and mental health people were needed urgently. The police were able to get the mental health people to come. Doug returned to her house, an hour or so later with the daughter. The police were there in numbers and had great difficulty getting her into custody and to the mental hospital.
While all was in turmoil the father of the little one turned up. They had an atmosphere in their manner of "situation normal". He was a really nice man. The daughter is a wonderful child. They said thanks and drove away.
Her Beautiful Mind IV
What an unfortunate imbalance in life, when the people closest are such spiritual and intellectual dwarfs. The evidence is so powerful. The television is watching us. The neighbours are just waiting for us to relax and they will smash all our windows. The evil Irish Housing Commission Officer is possessed by demons. He has been trying for months to permeate her home with his alien footprint. Surely they understand we can’t allow such exotic creatures inside with a mobile phone. Surely they know the device attached to his head is not a hearing aid.
It is difficult for her to love this insensitive family. How traumatic and inappropriate it is to hear her mother shouting the words “I love you”, whilst chasing that 500 year old ghost from the basement. This demonic apparition goes totally unnoticed by the others, cleverly disguised as their 80 year old mother.
After all she has done for them, sitting so focussed for days, waiting for the demon to challenge or threaten her loved ones. Then suddenly she must viciously defend family and guests, virtually saving their lives. Her sweet mother later emerged from the basement with some bruising and minimal blood loss thanks to her daughter’s brave effort. But it is stunning and cruel that mother utters not one word of thanks to her courageous spiritual shield.
One gifted with such deep vision of all things, should not be expected to calmly sit in this room and find synergy with the instincts of the blind. All the while these conative minnows struggle to recognise the most obvious threats. They fail to appreciate the countless actions taken to avert catastrophe. Their insensitivity and ignorance compounds her task as she rescues the family many times over. Still her intense focus lingers.
So when her mother stated firmly, in a river of pretentious tears, that she felt threatened and in danger in her daughter’s home, that was the ultimate insult.
I guess Doug must be the rock, for her to quickly seek his sympathy and understanding on the phone. It is hard to know where this regularly tested faith is based.
One thing about Doug is his endless optimism. In the heat of that dreadful moment of a mother’s heartless abuse of her daughter, he was able to convince the old lady to accept a ride back to her home as soon as he could arrange it. His optimism was totally justified. Although a daughter may feel a moment of disappointment that her mother now ignores her and has boundaries well established, the demon in the basement has not been seen since.
