My Friend is struggling with insomnia

My Friend is struggling with insomnia

Hi everyone,

One of my friends has been diagnosed with insomnia for years now and they’ve tried a lot of things to help them get to sleep (they currently are on [edited by moderator] but their body has gotten used to it so it’s not effective anymore).

I really want to help them find something that works since they don’t sleep very well at all.

Does anyone know any tips that work for them?

Thankyou!

Hey @SunWolfMoon It's so thoughtful of you to look for support for your friend! <3

Just a gentle reminder that whilst members are welcome to share general sleep strategies, we can't recommend medications here. If what they are currently taking isn't helping anymore, it would be worth your friend chatting with their GP.

In the meantime, a consistent wake up time, calming wind-down routines and reducing caffeine later in the day may help. Has anyone found any non-medication strategies helpful?

Kindly,

~ @Honeymoon

Hi@SunWolfMoon

My partner has suffered from insomnia since a child he struggles to sleep. Your friend could try a sleep psychologist that uses CBT for insomnia. Maybe meditations on YouTube before going to sleep could help to relax her mind and body.
