Lost

I just don't feel like myself anymore and it's been months. Everytime I think it's getting better or feel hopeful I just end up plummeting into a deeper hole. I've been trying to prioritise my mental health, I even seeked professional help for the first time in my life. Now i'm being referred to a psychiatrist because I may or may not have bipolar disorder and/or BPD, among other issues. Im new to this, I'm not well versed on mood disorders and I don't have anyone to talk to or confide in. I don't have any friends, I'm not working at the moment and I don't really have anyone to talk to or just anyone who understands. I've never felt so isolated and lost to this extent.

Hey there @nightbloom

A very warm welcome to the SANE community 👋 We hope that you find the forums a great place to connect with other members, share stories and ideas, and find the support and connection you deserve.

It's awesome to hear that you've been trying to prioritise your mental health, and that you took the very courageous step of reaching out to a professional. We know how intimidating this can be, and how much vulnerability it can take!

Having to navigate the mental health system for the first time can be confusing and lonely, especially if this isn't something that people in your life regularly talk about 😔 I want to share a very gentle encouragement, and say that although it might take some time and bravery, it's definitely possible to find some safe people that can support you in this journey.

Besides the forums, there are also lots of free services that you can access, so that you can get some counselling support such as Beyond Blue, 13YARN, or Kids helpline (if you're 25 or under). It might be a good idea to reach out to them, so that you can have a safe space to talk about your mental health journey in a confidential space.

We hope that the community will have some insights to share with you soon! Feel free to Introduce yourself here if you haven’t already!
