Does smoking Weed affect mental health

Does smoking Weed affect mental health

Hi

My Partner has a very high consumption of THC from having Weed every single day.

He recently had to go to Hospital for 3 days and therefore couldn't smoke Weed.

When he was finally discharged and came home, he was bringing up things that happened ages ago, nothing I do seems to be good enough or 'right' and he was acting paranoid.

Does the consumption of Weed affect peoples mental health in a negative way.

Probably, I mean anything taken would affect every individual differently, this applying for weed use as well. I’m considering taking medical cannabis because I’ve used up the traditional treatments my psych gave me, only gotten the heavy side effects / unpleasant experiences with no relief at all. It’s ridiculous, can’t have sex without feeling shit or worthless with a body always on guard from daily bullshit.

Hey @Carebear sorry to hear that this is happening for you and your partner. Weed is a tricky one because it affects everyone differently. It sounds like a challenging time for you both.

I hope your partner has got some support, it sounds like you may need some as well? Someone like a GP or therapist for instance. Relationships Australia is also an option you could look into, or 1800 RESPECT

I hope things settle for you both soon.

Re: Does smoking Weed affect mental health

@carebear just my experience living with someone affected by weed, as a non smoker I think i didn't understand it as much, but being around them dependent on their smoking i noticed a lot of paranoia. It can be hard to understand.

hasa he got ongoing support?

It is challenging to find someone who understands weed use, there are also psychiatrists who specialise in "addiciton medecine" which can be useful in understanding these things. I saw such a dr, and a lot of his patients struggled with subtance abuse.

I'd see its fairly common , and good supports will help and understand.
