Ive really stuffed up

Ive really stuffed up

Its a really long story, but to keep it short i have trouble talking to my husband about finance.

I just say what he wants to hear and with running a building company its not the best of times (thanks Albo) with a big project we have on and a previous build to sell that won't sell.

I dont know why I do this, but its led to me sleeping in my car tonight.

Pretty low space right now....dont know what to.do.

Any advice would be welcome.

@friendlypassio Its not easy, but good on you and your husband for trying... in these trying times. I did the bookkeeping for a company with my ex husband. It can be difficult, being handed reams of fine print to sign, and yes, the tendency can be to agree to keep the peace. I felt out of my depth a lot, even though I had previously worked for the ATO. I am guessing there is quite a bit of complexity. It is definitely not good that you feel you cant speak up, and are so distressed about it, you are sleeping in the car. Can you say any particulars, that preserve anonymity?

Hi @friendlypassio and welcome to the Forums. I’m glad you reached out tonight.

It sounds like you’ve been carrying a lot of pressure around the business and finances, and I'm sorry talking to your husband about it is difficult. Finding yourself sleeping in your car tonight sounds really overwhelming. You don’t have to work out the whole situation tonight, the first thing is making sure you’re safe. Can you call someone familiar tonight, even if it’s just to talk?

I’m sorry you don’t have anyone you feel you can call tonight, @friendlypassio. That sounds lonely, especially with so much weighing on you.

If you think talking with someone now would be helpful, Beyond Blue has counsellors available on 1300 22 4636 or through their online webchat. We may not be able to respond right away on the Forums, but you’re also very welcome to keep posting here and sharing what’s on your mind if you are finding that helpful.
