At a young age I don't believe I learned proper social skills, I had a hyperactive nervous system, Content/Trigger warning: Sexual abuse
and I experienced sexual trauma between ages 7-12. Recently I experienced a similar thing, to a more severe extent.
After losing a friend I spoke to every day for 5 years, I stopped caring about my boundaries, wanting to please others so that they would stick around. This led me to be in serious situations by trusting others too quickly and not noticing red flags. Content/Trigger warning: physical & psychological abuse
My house was smashed through and robbed, I was physically and psycologically harmed and humiliated for over an hour, surrounded by a group of strangers. Thinking back, I should've traded my life for theirs to be behind bars for a decade.
Going through the legal system has made me lose a whole lotta hope, seeing the incompetance of people we look up to and trust to keep us safe. Ever since the incident I've been dealing with somatic symptoms, flashbacks and intrusive memories and thoughts, downpours of emotion, paranoia from noises, people and public spaces, social withdrawal, night terrors. Some of my friends were involved in making this happen so I cut them off, and some I lost for other reasons. As an extrovert, this is the first time I've ever been without any true friends. I value my time with genuine people, I prioritize being an open book, a listener, respectful, adventurous. But ever since I've been alone. There's a 0 percent chance of me hurting others or getting hurt by anyone else. I feel an odd sense of peace being alone, I don't leave my house now unless it's necessary, when I used to party nearly every weekend. I don't reach out to people unless they're my family, when I used to be on a phone call every day. I'm in an unclean, messy, isolated house with no routine when I used to get compliments for having such a clean and tidy house. I'm bed rotting away. Obsessing over things that don't make sense. Screaming during the night. Having pain that's always awkward and triggering to talk about. It's like being stuck in limbo: I want to move forward but I trap myself in a room alone where it's comfortable to avoid responsibilities and more danger. I feel like I'm deteriorating and people have said that I deserve every bad thing that happens to me. I'm starting to find comfort in being treated like sh"t and bad things because that's what I'm used to.
