Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Dealing with suicidal thoughts now that i’m living out of home alone for the first time.

Dealing with suicidal thoughts now that i’m living out of home alone for the first time.

About 4 months ago i have moved out of home alone for the first time in my life, to a new state aswell. I have been struggling with depression and anxiety for a while now (since i was 14, i’m 20 now), and yk i’ve had my ups and downs, at age 16 it was the worse as that was when i first attempted suicide, but since then i’ve had a great amount of support from family, friends and loved ones. Life was going ig you could say great for a while, i had a steady job, my mental health was stable, i got off my antidepressants which was a massive accomplishment to me, i had a great support system and i even met this amazing guy. Until i decided to move to a new state and live out of home, i wanted to ig “find myself” now that i felt comfortable enough in my mental health to do so, ive always wanted to move to this dream city as there are so many more opportunities out here and things to do to figure myself out. That’s one thing i dont really know about myself is what my passion in life is and i thought moving away from home and being alone would help me. But ever since i have moved here i’ve fallen back into a heavy state of depression. The first 2 months were great i was going out here and there, i started a new job, i was exploring and my bf even visited me (yes im doing long distance, which is bad ik). But all that just wore off and now i find myself sleeping all day every day, only getting up for work, i cant eat, i have made no effort in making friends, which i already struggle with in general, and all i want to do is just die. Maybe im being lazy but ik me and this isn’t laziness, its so much harder without the support system im used to cause usually i have that to fall back on but now i dont, and i just dont know what to do.

Hi @cittykat

Moving is hard, and moving away from all of your supports would carry immense challenge. It can be incredibly isolating and feel like you have to do everything, to cope, all by yourself. I'm glad you're here reaching out for some support - you don't deserve to go through this alone.

If you haven't already, you might be interested in joining Recovery Club for some extra support, to help you work through these feelings and figure out what you can do to support yourself in this journey. It's free, offers both self=-guided and guided support, 1:1 sessions, groups, resources, recovery planning, and connection. Read more/sign up here:
