Struggling to feel sane and grounded

Struggling to feel sane and grounded

Lately I have felt like I am slowly losing grip with reality and no longer able to determine what is me, what is psychosis and what is whatever else happening in my life. My recovery has taken a massive hit as a result and so the spiral is only compounding. The majority of the family and friends supports stepped back years ago due to their own personal reasons. I am truly a the point of turmoil and no matter how hard I try, I can't get my recovery to stick, so the long term sanity can build that would help me resolve everything else. I am pushing as hard as I can to get access to professional pathways on the limited income I have but I feel most of the time I just get handed from service to service before things return to a true crisis state and others supports kick in. Not looking for someone to solve just want to know if anyone else has felt the same way and managed to come back from this point as I could use the hope and encouragement.

@Misty7 @Radder Would you happen to have any ideas?

Hi @lothlorienElf93 it is indeed frustrating that you are getting shuffled around services and cost is a big inhibitor for most people - especially in high cost-of-living times.

Some people with psychosis need medication and so have to navigate the public health system. Unfortunately you usually need to advocate for yourself - this may give you some ideas:

However, I think everyone can benefit from peer support. I am sure there are others with similar lived experience in this forum and hopefully they will see this discussion and respond.

There are specific peer support groups for different conditions. Without fully knowing your situation, here are some examples that are related to the psychosis umbrella.

While it may not apply to your situation, for hope and encouragement that people can thrive after very serious mental heath challenges, Eleanor Longden's 14 min Ted Talk is inspirational.

What support do you feel you most need right now?

Hi @lothlorienElf93

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with knowing what’s real and what’s not. That must be very frustrating and scary. It’s great that you are pushing as hard to get the help you need. I found the thing that really help me with psychosis was medication. I am lucky to have a good support team. I hope you find someone who works for you. Keep trying. Recovery is possible.

Hi @lothlorienElf93

Depending on what area you are from. You could try looking up bulk billed psychologists and psychiatrists. Also ask you Gp if they know if any of them do bulk billing. I found these online psychologists that bulk bill.
