Advise for my doctor

Advise for my doctor

Hi all, my doctor is treating my abuser and will not listen to me when I try to explain the impact this has on me. I introduced my ex to my longtime doctor and, though my doctor has a right to treat, I feel betrayed and once again unprotected. Sadly I have never been protected in my 61 years of existence. I have an order against my ex, my doctor is doing all to keep me physically safe yet doesn’t understand the mental implications for me. Yep I have cptsd and am neurodivergent. Any advice for either of us would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Advise for my doctor

@moonspell you could put a notice up on facebook on your local buy swap and sell for your area and ask for good doctor recommendations from people. I have done this for other professionals and people facebook do reply. You could then check out the GP and have your patient file transferred to the new doctor. You sound happy with your doctor but unprotected, you have a right to feel safe as this is causing you trauma. If people wont protect you just dont sit it out, take action, I know it must feel like youve been let down by people and its been an unfortunate pattern all throughout you life. I get it but if nobody is prepared to vouch for you just consider what I said and find a new doctor. Take back your power. The pain and grief wlll go. Theres times for beginnings and endings and you may just have to say goodbye to your doctor for your wellbeing as much as a good doctor he/she was

Re: Advise for my doctor

Hi @moonspell,

It is really important to be with a doctor that respects you and makes you feel heard and safe. Be the smart one in this situation and call around and ask if there are any GPS with a interest in mental health. If they say no ask them if they know another centre you could try. I've had to do this myself and it can be a bit annoying but the quicker you do it the better you will be. You can ask them to transfer your files across there usually is a fee.

Re: Advise for my doctor

I have another doctor lined up. I have given mine the 2 weeks he has asked for if I can take it for that long. He has been very good to me and I to him but this is unforgivable. No one in their right mind can treat both abused and abuser and stay neutral. I’ve dealt with too much trauma, mental health blah and researched and educated myself. Sadly this attitude is why people die at the hands of the abuser. Thanks for reaching out 🫂

Re: Advise for my doctor

Hello @moonspell that is a very fair comment regarding your GP it may just require more adjustment on your part to build something new again. At least your ex wont have his tentacles over you. A fresh start for you! Im sorry people have not supported you it must cause you lots of grief but you have got this far on your own which bears testimony to your strength and resiliency. I wish it was different for you i did wonder why people wont do anything for you. Its totally wrong. I have not had people do much for me either. Anyway just keep on plugging away. Remember yourself always. Do for yourself always and stand up for yourself always. Goodbye to the doctor who betrayed you and a more solid footing for a new professional relationship. Let us know how you go.
