Managing relationships

Hello

Hello

Hi. I have schitzoaffective disorder. I don't know many people like myself that I can relate to. I am extremely well managed with my disorder but still find it hard to make friends. Especially people with my disorder. Is there anyone who wants ro talk and maybe meet up and do things we both like doing?

Re: Hello

I am schizophrenic and bipolar but are very well managed that some people don't see any difference at the start until later. I'm no different to anyone out there but if and when they do notice something different, they will treat me as an outcast. It's sad but hurtful when it happens. I feel very much alone sometimes and are tiered of having no one ro talk to or go out somewhere with. I'm tiered of being alone.

Hi @Pamela1967

Thank you for sharing. Being treated differently and made to feel like an outcast can be incredibly painful and isolating. It makes sense you're feeling hurt from these experiences, I'm really sorry you've been treated this way.

Unfortunately, stigma and misunderstanding around mental health is still very real and can have a real impact on relationships.

We all need connection, acceptance and deserve to feel understood. Thank you for sharing this with us. You aren't alone in feeling this way, you're always welcome to share and talk to the community if this feels right for you. There is space for you here, and I hope you find some connection, understanding and support within this community.

Re: Hello

Hi @Pamela1967

I am 60 and also schizoaffected, medicated and moderate.

I told only one person about my problem, and they nearly freaked, turns out their husband had the same problem and there had been some serious issues. Since then bite the lip which makes it hard to converse at times.

I've never had a lot of friends, am a bit of an introvert, and now have a few none of which know about my health. it doesn't make it difficult while I am well, and that has been since taking medication, but if I slip and the facade slips who could say.

Would love your thoughts.
