Mental Health through Recovery from Alcohol

Mental Health through Recovery from Alcohol

I have a family member who has heavily used alcohol for 3 years and also has significant mental health issues, as they are coming off alcohol they are still behaving with cognitive impairment and an ability to not always function. Has anyone else experienced this. How do you support someone over the phone when they are having massive anxiety and seem to not be functioning.

Hey @Hackett70, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like you have been going through a tough time with your family member for quite a few years. It is really brave of you to reach out for support as it is not aways easy to take that step. It can be really challenging supporting loved ones and I encourage you to take care of yourself and other family members. :)

I also wanted to share some resources with you that may be benificial for you and your family to get the support you need to continue to help this family member.

I encourage you to continue to share with the community as I beleive your peers will have some valuable insights to share with you!

Take care
