2026 National Stigma and Discrimination Report Card

The National Mental Health Commission’s 2026 National Stigma and Discrimination Report Card has recently been delivered in partnership with SANE Australia and the University of Melbourne.
Findings demonstrate that stigma and discrimination are still prevalent across Australia with the highest burden seen in workplaces and employment, in personal relationships and across housing and welfare systems.
Whilst attitudes have improved over the past decade, people with complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder are still facing higher levels of stigma, discrimination and misunderstanding.
