The Sun's Gone Into Hiding
I was reading a reply to a post by @Taali and, being a poet and a fan of Shakespeare (if you ever read or listen to any of his works, especially A Midsummer Night's Dream, the use of shortened words with an apostrophe is common. I thought it would add to the drama of the verse quite nicely). Anyway, enjoy, comment if you like it.
The Sun’s gone into hiding,
what hath become of thee?
The radiant warmth of summer’s gone,
suddenly did flee.
Replac’d by bitter winter,
cold and barren, still,
the world around me darker,
a test upon my will.
Remembering autumn’s colours,
a palette that brought cheer,
but in my darken’d state, alas,
I now know mostly fear.
the spring a distant mem’ry,
I wish for it once more,
new life emerging from it’s breath,
I long for spring brought forth.
the sun shall no doubt shine again,
but whence I know not when,
the gentle rays of golden light,
shall shine upon me then,
for now this bitter darkness,
surrounds me, cold and dark,
the stillness suffocating,
it weighs upon mine heart.
the icy coldness melting
with each new hope I find
The light now approaching,
its essence most divine,
the Sun has broken through the clouds,
loos’d winter from its grip,
and warmth now livens up these lands,
sets sail my once froze ship,
my journey moves along once more,
forged from those past hits,
my strength return’d mightier,
I am now whole again.
